Not looking good in the UP..........

Looking at the cams around Gogebic, it looks like they have lost about 25% of snow so far. Today and tomorrow will just add to that!!

How much snow do you think we will need to get to get the trails back up to decent after this warm up? 4-6", 8-12???

Though the temps seem to cool down starting Tuesday, nothing really far below 32 which I think will make the re-freeze take some time.

Still coming up the 26th, doing all the snow dancing and praying I can, need everyone else to do the same!

If it freezes up, it will make a good base and 6" should make it decent again. It would be best to groom where they can right before the cool down to make the base as smooth as possible.

Everything super wet & thaw not over ....heard as far out as Tuesday ...maybe. It not about the snow right now more about cold weather to set up wet areas then snow. Groomers can't go out in this & if we got 12" of snow they stiil would have soooooooo many problems. I really feel bad for groomers trying but difficult conditions in foreseeable future just hang in there & wait till Ma Nature gives us what we need & won't be quick trun around for all areas look to high ground & grades for trails if you can't wait when thaw & rain is well done.

wow, been a tough week or so in the snow dept.

I can say my deck is now clear of snow and I didn't shovel at all!

my field near the Gay area is half snow and half grass.... Up north they have more snow but might thin here.

Now Now guys lets stay positive weather up north can change it a day I've seen it happen many time from summer days in the high 50s then 90 the next or rain for a week turns to snow snow snow never underestimate ma nature cause when you turn your back she will attack. I'm heading up next weekend to prep for after Christmas if I gotta trailer somewhere to test everything out so be it, but I'm staying positive it's my sons first trip to the yoop and snow or rain we'll be up then were up from Christmas till end of January gotta love paid vacation time lol.

Maybe 2017 the way it is going. Haha

Would be a great time to ride the fat *** tire bikes now!

LMAO, Don't get the trail nazis started. This is the worse time possible to ride trails on a bike! The tires leave ruts in in the freeze/thaw cycle and make wet holes.

In his 5-10 day period it says March 19-24....is he trying to surprise us or something? :0)

And he changed the spelling to "Decemner"....something is up isn't it? :0)

It has been 40 degrees or above for the past 4 days....along with a fair amount of drizzle mixed in. Our snow here in Marquette is down 75% from what it was right after the big storm.

I would say, it's gonna be a while before there is any good riding.

Looking at the cams this morning and John's revised forecast, I am feeling much better about the end of this month's trip. I am pretty sure there won't be the conditions that I am used to up there, but it will still be fun.
Tired of the negative views/reports/flat out calling the season. I have seen good things, forecast looks in our favor.

From the looks of it, most of you have thrown the towel in for a post Christmas rip session. I have not, I will be there, and I suspect the trails will be light with traffic which is fine by me! For those who still want to sled this year, it still wouldn't hurt to do some snow dances for good measure.

conditions

I rode 19th and 20th, trails were fair. STAY OFF 102 north of 8 had several creek crossings that were treacherous, and 1 that was impassable, we put a 2015 assault in the creek on its nose, had to jump 2012 IQ over to get it to the same side as we recovered the assault to. Other than that trails east of Gogebic and north to Greenland were fair to good for early season, few wet spots but overall not too bad. Trail 3 from Greenland to Watermeet was good. Trail 2 around Wakefield was good, Trail 11 north of 2 was not groomed but passable, a few wet spots, and one spot where Austin on the assault crossed the wet spot but I opted to go around through the woods. Trail 2 from 3 to 13 was good and 13 north of 2 up to bergland was good
