Oil usage - Polaris Fusion 600 carb

My sled has always seemed to use a little more oil than the others in my group, so I never paid much attention to oil usage. But on the last trip this year, I calculated the oil usage on my Fusion 600 carb - it was about 38:1. I've heard these things should around 50:1. Anyone know how much I should adjust the oil pump? Is this even worth adjusting? It won't save me all that much money but all things equal, I figure it's probably better not to burn too much oil. I'm not sure if it makes any noticeable performance difference but it would save about 5 qts every 2000 miles - again, not a huge dollar amount, and I don't mind burning more if it's good insurance for the pistons.

You are right where you want to be at 38:1, I wouldn't touch it. Keep in mind oil usage is a direct relation to gas mileage, you're sled should use x amount of oil per gallon of gas you burn. I know those 600 HO Carbed sleds are NOT fuel efficient at all either so using a bit more oil than the rest of your group is understandable.

Thanks for the input. I will plan to just leave it as is. I'm hoping to upgrade after next season, so even if I put 2000 miles on next season, it will only cost me an extra $30 in oil. Not worth worrying about it unless there is performance to be gained by getting it to 50:1.

Generally, the more oil used, the better the rings seal, the better the compression is, the more power you get. Up until a point anyway, like around 20-1.
