Ok Let's Deal With This Trail Standing Water

It's out there in all my rides so far this year & it can be messy & that is the least of it. When you come to a wet area water can be a few inches to waist deep or more. The swamp water dams up & starts to pool if the groomer got thru you may have a snow pack but often has "caverns" big cracks that break thru with sled weight. At least take a stick and poke thru in a cavern so you know how deep the water is it may hold you without sled but with sled you are pushing 7-900 lbs so keep that in mind. In my case just me so throttle up & go hard thru the crap after checking the area. Large groups have to remember all of you have to get thru & last guy probably will be skipping water & mud so keep that it mind. The way I handle the ever moving wet spots is keep full tank as much as possible ,know range, know bail out points, other trails or FRS. Bottom line if you don't want to skip water don't do it.
Your thoughts?

Trail 3 north of ER toward Conover just past the 10W / 13N junction, there's a huge mud hole as you turn east on the trail to Mapleview resort on Pioneer Lake.
I wouldn't have tried to go thru as there was no place to go. Needs to freeze up, nothing else solves that mess.

Hopefully the next 10 days will firm things up. Until then, "He(( week" will take its toll on sleds, and unfortunately, likely a few more riders.

I have had a ball on wet trail. one of my fav trail rides was in 07 late season dump so we drove north.
all the swamps were more open than not . ditches real wet as the day went on got more wet.
my cuz sled busted so we were 2 up that's when I found out a 06xf700 would skip riding 2 up with 2 men 190+ . any one can skip in a line it is real fun carving in a swamp 2 up.

Fusion,
That was a rough spot the area you were talking about. My friends and I were up there opening weekend. One sled stuck in it. Friend lost his boot in the mess, then found it. It took us an hour to get the sled out. We had to ride through that area a few times over that weekend. My sled was covered in mud top to bottom after that weekend.

hey ezra, I think I saw you carving up a big open area on Lenny's last ride in April - pretty cool but I will always hit the flipper hard and drive straight through-I do carry a long rope though...but when that icy water is two feet higher than my knees... I don't want to do that more than once --------a year!
