Old Oil

5 Years ago (give or take a year) I bought 10 gallons of Sea & Snow at a good sale price. I thought they would be easily gone in 3 years but with the last few winters I haven't put many miles on and still have 2 full gallons left. Should I have any concerns with using oil that old?

It is bad, please send it to me. Email for address.

JK. As long as sealed (moisture), it's good. If in doubt, send to me, I'll use it.

Shoot, I could have just delivered it. We were in Roselle last Friday. JCPenny had those holiday buttons and we won $90 in merchandise. Marinette has to be one of the smallest JCP's anywhere so we said heck, might as well go spend it at Woodfield. Also went to the JCP's in Lombard and Bloomingdale. I think the Pizza place we ate at was in Roselle.

Heck, I could have saved you the time and gas money. You could have sent the winnings to me and I would have spent it for you. That's just the kind of guy I am. LOL

PS if you got any old gas or diesel, I'll take that too!

It's been in the ground for millions of years. I'll go out on a limb and predict it will be good for your lifetime. :)

Upsledder,

Do your oil bottles fit this:

I just read an article, I think in SnowTech about this same issue. The issue was, going into a gas station in the middle of BFE and needing a quart of oil. The only oil was the guys normal brand BUT the bottle sides were all sucked in.

The reply was that, when oil sits for a very LONG time, there are solovents in the oil make up that evaporate causing the bottle to suck the sides in. He recommended not using the oil.

I have to say, I have seen this on a shelf in the UP.

I would just shake it up real good and get all the additives and good stuff in there all mixed up again.
