Oneida-Lincoln Update 2-2-26

Trails took a beating over the weekend with the heaviest traffic they have seen in 3 years......clubs are out and grooming, and there are some nice trails out there...but we do have a bit of snirt and some ice in the corners....I did notice early Sunday where the clubs had been out grooming, seemed to help smooth out some of the icy corners. We need more snow, some good wet stuff...at least three inches to really help out....the base is holding up well for the beating it took, and there are still some good trails out there, and they should still be decent for the weekend...but the moisture is beat right out of the snow in spots where it's seen heavy traffic, and repeated grooming....it is also a bit snirty on the Hiawatha, and at road crossings (the usual stuff)...as always...get out and away from the high traffic spots, and you will find better riding.....any direction from Tomahawk is still decent, but it seems a little better to the north and west of the area...and it's also not bad heading north and east (Harrison, Towards Elcho)....still gets thinner as you head south, but there has also been far less traffic that direction as well....Bottom line is conditions are still pretty good, and the trail base is holding up, but we could use more snow to really make things nice. As always....the conditions I'm relaying now are GOOD, but can change rapidly with heavy traffic or warmer temps....so keep that in mind. Trails were as good as I've ever seen them last Thursday, but were hammered out, and icy by Saturday evening, so people riding Saturday did not have the same experience I did Thursday night...but I honestly do not like to ride much when there is this much traffic in the area, my sled usually stays parked Friday, and Saturdays, all winter

Hey quick question for you. Coming out of the harrison hills what is trail # 51 like it looks like it's a pretty straight shot just worried it's a road coming off of trail 16 at intersection 22 Is it decent running or is it a road route.? and taking 51 south to intersection 31 just plotting a route for tomorrow. TIA

It is a plowed road from just north of Bottoms up....but the edges of the road (where the sleds run) have remained ice covered and pretty hard...so I think it will be all right...but I haven't been on that trail to the south in 3 weeks

thank you sir decided that will be tomorrows ride, this am we headed to clear lake nakomis then somo mohawksin and back going west was great advice only met 4 sleds the whole time having a quick bite now at our room now heading south down to s and then west and north again. Thanks again for being so willing with info when asked. love this mid week riding now that we are retired. if trails hold probably come back again next week that will be 3 weeks in a row. Still haven't begun to cover all the trails around here, not about the miles about the smiles! Have a good one.
