found a sweet deal on a new 2010 144" 6oo rmk .. here's my ?'s do about 70% trail riding from eagle river wis all the way to houghton mich and baraga to big bay area most winter's. & 30% logging or fireroad riding.. the deal is so good was thinking of putting a picked 1.25 ripsaw 144" track on it for most of my riding and switching out to the 2" for going up into the up..this sled has the adj front end 39" to 42", what's everone's opinion on this set up for my riding style and anyone have much time on this type of sled, set up like this..also what about just selling the 2" track and just putting a 1.5" like the cat snowpro switchback's with the 141" track?? for a all around crossover style sled?? this model does not have the tipped rail's thank's everyone

I've got the 09 RMK Shift 800 144 and it doesn't turn worth a hoot on the trail. It's not made for the trail. Ski's lift easy because it's meant to keep them up on top of the snow. You'd have to do a lot of changes to keep the skis down. Better off with a switchback if that's what you want to do.

My 07 RMK 155x2.4 is fine on the trail also. That being said, I sure in the heck can't keep up with a 121" in the twistys. LOL. You can make adjustments to the suspension to help keep the skis down, putting a picked 1.25, or a 1.5 would be a wise choice also. I run ice scratchers on mine, and with them down I have no over heating issues on hard pack. I guess it depends on how a good a deal it is?

i have the same sled. had it up north only once this year(early season riding). yes it is a bit tipsy on trails. little body shift helps. i have no plans going to different track. also did as skyler states. put on some sidekicks scratchers. and do open up skis to 42". and maybe longer carbides, comes with shorty ones.
