1995 arctic cat wildcat 700 efi. low compression on one side, was looking to buy for 5 or 6 hundred to rebuild sled to pretty much new for a project. I need opinions from people that may know how reliable they are. sled is in really good shape but needs engine help. like I said I was going to completely rebuild engine.

The earlier Cat 700s were pretty high strung and tuned within inches of their lives. However they brought that engine back in a trail tuned (single pipe) version for '99 and '00. My son is still riding my old 2000 (old school 700) ZR and it has well over 10,000 miles with a top end refresh at 8000 miles. Its still strong as a bull, if that helps.

Frankly, for the price you are giving for it, you don't have that much to lose. Just expect to go thru it completely if you want real reliability.

Even if you give it up, someone will buy it and take it from there. A good sled for that money is not all that easy to find. One that is good except the engine is worth it in just selling the parts.

I has a twin pipe 700 ran fine. all those 700s were very hard on clutch side of bulk head upper part .kind of up by jack shaft it would literally tear alloy in 2. they would also pull motor mounts out of bulk head like bust a hole in belly pan.I had my rear tear out 2 times.
but that twin pipe 700 was a screamer on the lake.
prob is U are looking at spending 500 on it and dropping 8 in to it and countless hours for a sled u would be lucky to get 1500 for

thanks for the advice. I didn't pick it up due to the fact it has 5000 miles on it and it is the second engine and that one has a weak cylinder. I couldn't see fixing it up just to have it give me a headache in a couple thousand miles.
