Oxygen vented shield?

I currently have the Doo Oxygen Carbon helmet, love the helmet except... it can get warm at times even on low, so I find myself more often than not cracking the shield open. I had a customer in my shop yesterday who thought there was a "vented shield" available, I skimmed through the Doo helmet catalog and either didn't see it or it isn't available. Does this optional shield actually exist? does it help? Thanks ahead guys and girls!

Found it!! had to go to the dark side LOL (doo talk) watched a video on it, I already have the zipper chin curtain and from watching the video looks like the new shield the ultimate add on to the helmet I already love! definitely going to order, might be old news but here is the part number 9290980000

Brian you know you’re a closet Doo lover🤣
was back in the early to mid 90's I did Arcitc Catacize my oxygen helmet though LOL! not only to differentiate it on the shelf with all the others but felt sacrilegious to have Cat sled, Cat gear and a helmet with a BRP symbol on it LOL!! IMO still an awesome helmet!

Yes they seem to be, and yes they can be warm on the warmer days. Let us know what you think of it when you get a chance to use it. Would possibly consider one in the future.

I wish I would have seen this a week ago lol! I was going to buy one but after talking to a lot of friends that have the Oxygen, they said it's hot and you must have it plugged in or it will fog. They all ended up buying the Mission Helmet so I checked those out, I felt like there was a very limited view with those so I ended up buying my fourth BV2S instead, crazy deals on leftover ones, paid $250.00 for one with an electric shield. I love the peripheral view on the BV2S, only needed the electric shield once in a ice storm on our way to Kip's place years ago, they never for up!

I also heard that the Oxygen has or is coming out with one called the Flow, that apparently allows you to vent it and unplug it, no fogging issue, not 100% sure though?

yes, I looked at mission as well and felt the same, I have a larger noggin and by far the oxygen is the best fitting helmet I have ever owned in 30 plus years, plus I really like the fact that there is no breath deflector up against your face or mouth either, leaving a nicer panoramic view IMO. last year when I went to Big Bay it was in the upper 20's to low 30's and rode with shield up a lot but end up with swollen eyes, the open chin vent on skirt helped greatly but will imagine the vent on shield will only put icing on the cake. I also found interesting on the video I watched they had one of the engineers of the helmet on ad stated they also changed the shape/curvature of the shield to reduce glare which i also noticed that would give the shield IMO a slightly fogged/opaque appearance. I'm willing to bet this option will be the ultimate answer to the only fault I have with the helmet.

I just crack the shield a tiny bit. Generally when I start out there is allot of heavy breathing involved.

euphoric1, are you talking about the chin skirt on the SE? I looked into getting one to add to my newer Oxygen helmet and found some will accept it and others not, so I didn’t buy it. I was also concerned it might make the helmet even warmer. After 20 years of using the Modular helmet I am pleased with the lack of a snorkel and it’s associated diaper…

I think the SE skirt is really long in length, my carbon one nowhere near the skirt but i guess some had the zipper vent near chin area and some didn't, mine has the zipper vent. That skirt on the SE model is almost another piece of clothing IMO

Got the flow shield a couple of weeks ago may try out this weekend. I am hearing it may solve 2 issues one the helmet can get too warm on warmer days and a lot of them have distortion which can make it hard to see at night. I am hearing the flow shield has solved that 2. Yes they came out with a new version of the oxygen helmet and it's called the oxygen flow. Lakeland had them for 20% off last weekend.

Love my Oxygen helmet but it does get a little too warm at times. FYI, the vented shield is out of stock on the Doo website.

Yes they are out of stock but you can find them. I found mine on eBay from K&W cycles. I checked at a couple of local dealers and they are trying to move the old shields before they get the new ones. I wish them luck I am not sure who would buy the old one with the new one out unless you are in a bind

Will this new shield work with any Oxygen helmet?

got my new shield yesterday...CAME FAST. the vent is located in front of what I refer to as the nose cone so it does not impede vision at all it is 1" tall by 1 3/4" wide and when it is open the opening is 1/4" , you can also see they changed the down curvature of the shield as well which according to their engineers is to reduce glare, very easy to change, no tools needed, can do it in a minute or less. The new shield does not have the black plastic trim buttons where it pivots which IMO gives it a cleaner look.
Anyone who has one of these helmets knows this helmet is incredibly warm, yes it has venting, I do not wear a baklava under this helmet and to be honest I cannot feel or notice any air movement in the helmet, I do have the zipper chin vent on the skirt and always have it open when I ride, and more often than not would ride with shield cracked open. IMO this vent is the answer, its right in front of nose cone, will direct fresh cool air at your face and may also help draw air in or out of the existing vents allowing for better air movement through the helmet. I have never had my helmet any higher than the lowest setting and I believe this will be the answer and provide a better marriage between the warmth the helmet provides and the lack of fresh air movement it so very much needs.
I havent played around with posting pictures yet, so if anyone wants to PM me their Cel number I did take series of pics and would be more than happy to send them. Or if anyone who is familiar with posting pictures via texts I can send them to you also to put them up. And yes I do believe this shield fits all oxygen helmets, I paid $179 for the shield

My Oxygen helmet is iteration 2, not a Carbon and not the SE. When I researched it a couple years ago it was thought that a SE chin skirt would work on iteration 2s but not the original Oxygen. Unfortunately there were no skirts to be had to attempt the swap and since I was always lifting the visor to vent, the larger skirt would just shutoff any ventilation. This shield sounds promising.

that's one of the reasons why I did not go with the longer skirt, I also like to stop on occasion and just stretch legs and helmet off and i thought it would be too much to tuck in and would have to open or possibly drop jacket to tuck the back in, was also worried with twisting and turning the extended skirt in the back would bunch up and didn't want to deal with that either. I really didn't want to spend on the carbon but was only one they had that was my size and standard skirt
