Painting exhaust pipe

Tried a search and didn't see a post. I would like to clean up my rusty exhaust pipe on my sled. Any recommendations for prep, primer and paint that will last and not burn off right away?

Thanks in advance.

high temp spray paint, before that i'd just sand it down good. unless you spend the money and get it ceramic coated, nothing will keep it from getting rusty again. even ceramic coated pipes get rusted sooner or later.

It does help to use a hi-temp primer prior to applying the hi-temp black paint.

VHT or Duplicolor has both. I used to just prep the pipe and spray it with the black heat paint, but the last time I refinished a system, I used the primer first and it appears to have held up better.

I like the idea of a professional ceramic coating of the system, but the cost is hard to swallow.

Header paint seems to work the best with a rating of almost 2000 degrees It lasted the longest for me about 2 yrs got it at Autozone. The way to go is ceramic but it is expensive.
No matter what though sooner or later it will rust again.Wonder why they do not make them out of stainless would only add maybe $100 or so to the cost of a sled,

Sand every inch of it. dust it off then spray down with brake cleaner/contact cleaner let dry then paint or primer/paint. Make sure it is oil free before you paint it.
