Past weekend trip..few comments

Had a great trip this past weekend..rode Minocqua to Houghton to Copper Harbor to Marquette and back to Minocqua. Most trails were great and a few were terrible. Total 650 miles.

Some thoughts and generalizations from the trip..mostly light hearted so please no one get offended. And one serious issue...

Everyone's favorite person these days are the gas station workers...found myself laughing with joy at every fill-up! They also seemed to be in a great mood!

Why is there always a guy on a Arctic Cat blocking the trail at an intersection?! Every time:)

99% of guys on 800's really only need an 84 Phazer..

Why is it every guy from Illinois has an aftermarket can on their sleds? ***..

What's the deal with off-trail guys always popping onto the trail/railroad bed in front of people?! Happens to me every trip...Someone is gonna get killed one of these days! Seriously..***!

To the guy clearly struggling to keep that crappy handling Polaris Rush on the trail..no need to flip me the bird because you blew the corner!

I hate when on coming sledders don't use hand signals..please think about more than just yourself.

So depressing seeing Park View shut down and the parking lot not even plowed..then again service was terrible and mosquito more than picked up the slack.

Anyways..it sure is depressing driving back home to see all the snow melted.

Wow. I hope you bought a trail permit.

Welcome to pure Michigan . The only place with snow on a three day week end, on a low snow year. I'm sure you didn't get on anybody's nerves while you were there? Lmao.

I beg to differ. The guys on the 800's need em so they can blast every stop sign and leave a foot high pile of snow and hold it wide open swaying side to side and mess up the trail. Oh yeah, they also leave piles of snow mid railroad so when I am going 75 I hit it and almost fly off.
Also, the off trail dudes near twin lakes purposely leave ruts across the grade and do not respect the trails because they only use the trail to get off trail. Thanks a lot.

One last thing..is it me or do "stay on trail" signs seem to be an invitation to veer off trail? Almost like guys see that sign and think there is something great off trail. You can be riding along for miles on a perfectly groomed trail when suddenly a "stay on trail" sign appears..sure enough tracks all off the trail..

I laugh at this comment. My wife who has just begun riding with us and knows almost nothing about the sport made a comment about how rude guys who ride AC. She asked if they were harder to control or something versus other sleds because she was almost hit by 2 AC's and often were in the way and parked in bad placed. I don't know why this is, but I had to agree with her comments. Not all are, but it seems like more people who drive AC are inconsiderate vs other brands:rolleyes:.

It's because were all Trucker Jr's........ when your riding the most winning race technology it takes a special "cat" to run it......there is a difference between a Ferrari and a Prius........haha, hehe......its Monday morning, just couldn't resist the soft ball.

152 miles on busy trails Saturday in Washburn and Sawyer Cty's. Taking the point (as usual) and nary a close call or oncoming kamakazee rider.

It was a good day!

Yeah, this really bothers me along with many others. It's not just on the groomed snowmobile trails, but riders are often zig-zagging across plowed roads and even highways oftentimes using the snow banks as jumps. Not only does this create an unnecessary hazard, it also messes up the job of the trail groomers and snowplow drivers who just got done making a nice smooth road or trail. Now, when I'm driving to town, I have to worry about a sled shooting or rolling out in front of me! If a deer darts in front, the normal reaction should be to slow down as much as possible and hit it square on without swerving. But if people are involved, it is tougher to not want to swerve to avoid collision. If you swerve, you could lose control, roll over, or hit trees or another oncoming vehicle. If you're riding a snowmachine at a high rate of speed on the groomed trail with a clean line of sight, and someone suddenly pops out in front of you, the situation could end badly. Especially for the fast rider. The other rider might fall off into the snowbank unscathed, but you have to collide, swerve, or bail at a high rate of speed. Another good reason to slow down, I guess, whether riding or driving. Another reality check: Even US-41 in Keweenaw County is not an "expressway". Limited access highways are divided, lined with cyclone fencing, have overpasses and underpasses, entrance and exit ramps, minimum speed of 45mph, no bicycles or pedestrians, and still have a top speed limit under 75mph in Michigan. No snowmobile trails in the U.P. and very few roads are designed for those kind of speeds. Just sayin'.

LMAO this is tooo funny. I was on a trip this past weekend in lando lakes and jesus lord this is 100% true. Trails were super busy and there was a few times I was leading and came around corners looking at someone sideways getting sprayed with ice. Trails were like a mini snocross track by Saturday afternoon, but hats off to the groomers because they fixed all that junk up the best they could, and had us start off on Thursday and Friday with absolutely gorgeous pool table flat trails.
