Looking for info from our JD friends, we are considering purchasing a pellet stove. What we would like is a add on which we could hook to our existing furnace, also does anyone have an idea how many ton of pellets you would use in a heating season if we used this as our primary unit.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

We have a pellet stove not a pellet furnace and when we used that as pimary, we used 4 tons a season and mixed with corn at about a 4 (pellet) to 1 (corn) ratio. We did this for a season to see what it would consume. Its an american harvest (us stove) mulit fuel stove. Currently we use setting 1 (lowest) and wood furnace when needed. On lowest setting, 2 bags of pellets, lasts almost 3 full days. Pellet stove is in living room appx 80 feet from wood furnace. House is 2000 sq feet, 1 level ranch style.

I own the Harmen PF 100 Pellet Furnace. Have had it now for 4 heating seasons. Home is just under 2,000 sf and live in UP. Go through 3 ton per year.

This year I am going to run natural gas. It is so cheap the pellets are not worth the trouble IMO. Did not have natural gas when PF 100 was installed, had propane at that time.

Any questions about it drop me a note.
