We all have Bad Days at work but usually they don't end up on the news. These are pictures of a mishap on HWY 41 where the Interstate crosses Lake Butte des Mort in Oshkosh. Last weeks storm started with icy roads and strong winds which caused the truck to veer off the bridge and into the lake. Nobody hurt and the driver walked away. He's fortunate it stopped where it did, he's right on the edge of the channel as it gets much deeper a short distance away. Hover your cursor over the pictures to get a closer view.

Not good what so ever, eh! I've been in some very scary situations close to as such. Fortunate not to end like this. One time watched as a close friend of mine driving the big truck in front of me, be blown sideways on the slippery surface, and slammed into the right side bridge curb hard. The left side dual trailer tandems raised up 2' plus. Close, but no cigar, eh! When we got to the terminal to fuel, I asked Lewis, how that felt as driving across that bridge? Being a good guy, a man of color, black, and a excellent driver, he laughingly exclaimed to me, that if that happening didn't turn him white, it just wasn't ever going to happen! Lewis is one of the very best persons I ever have been fortunate to work with, period!

I saw a car this am going in to mpls on 394 where it is pretty much raised bridge highway for some time .
A car slid up the packed snow obviously rock hard and was perched on the guard rail . Pretty sure a guy could have gone over with 1 arm and flipped it over the side and watched it fall 25 feet or so . Guarantee the driver was wishing they had some depends on after that situation

Snow bank = Ramp = 70’

Wonder how that will play out in court with the insurance company
State of emergency because of snow storm will be defense and I don’t think courts would side with insurance company over state in that cast. Just my thoughts.

Very surprised he didn't break through the ice. Know the area well and lots of current. Wondering if he looked at the murals under the bridge when he and the recovery crew were there? The Department of transportation spent what I have to imagine are 10's of thousands on murals UNDER the bridge! For what, I don't know - the boaters?
