Places to eat near Munising.

I'm going to be spending New Year's weekend in Munising with the family. I'm just wondering if there's any must eat at places in the immediate Munising area. Pic just for fun. Thanks

Camel Riders (for sure)
Bear Trap
Tangle wood
Boot Lake (now is under new ownership with a great menu)
Jack Pine Lodge (if you like smoke house food)
Buckhorn
I would not even bother with the Dogpatch we have never had a good meal there.

Are any of these places in the immediate Munising area? Supposed to be cold over new year's and I'm not sure I will be able to convince the family to go on a long night ride for food. We will be staying in Wetmore

Stay warm and just eat at the Cherrywood Lodge every night.....LOL

Foggy's and Tanglewood are probably the closest I would say 30 minute ride, but if you get back you could always jump I. The truck if the family doesn't feel like a ride.

From Wetmore, Tanglewood is only 6-8 miles on sled using the new official spur trail snocrazy had posted about a few weeks ago. The Bear Trap would be another ~6 miles further (north of Shingleton) from there.Are any of these places in the immediate Munising area? Yup, buddy has a camp about 5 miles north of town. Going up with both families. 4 adults/4 kids.

Haywire is closed. It never had that "up north" feel to me or our group. It felt more like a cafeteria then a trail stop.

Too bad it's closed. Always had a great meal there with the owner and his wife coming over to the table and visiting. Nice building,but I understand what you mean.One night there were a couple of ladies in there that were grooming the trails having dinner. I pulled the owner aside and told him we wanted to buy their dinner and he said he already covered it and always does.
most restaurants in the area give free meals to the groomers.
Boot Lake Bar opening is what hurt the Haywire. Ashley is a dam good cook.
Honestly not having a bar is what hurt the Haywire along with the atmosphere. Not having the "up north" feel and let's face it not everyone that rides snowmobiles, four wheelers and ATVs are looking for just a place to eat. Most times they are looking for a place to stop for a beverage. For example, you eat at the Bear Trap heading south most people won't stop in a restaurant to eat a second time to warm up, so they keep going south to Jack Pine. Now open Boot Lake and Haywire 9 times out of ten people are going into the Boot because they are not Always looking for food.
I said when the Haywire closed if you put a fire place in there put log siding on the wall added a nice bar with some TVs some mounts a little sound deadening that place would be a money maker.
