My best friend is getting married in april and for his bachelor party myself and 3 others are planning a trip to go to the UP for a weekend of riding. i need some advice on where to stay in the UP, because i want a place that is close to the snowmobile trail and also fairly close to town. yes we are all over 21 so i want a place that is either walking distance from some bars or a cheaper cab ride. if anyone has any sugestions that would be much appreciated. were looking to go sometime december - january.

The Ramada on the waterfront in Hancock, right on the trail, right across from M&M Powersports & close to all venues of restaurants & bars in the Hancock & Houghton area, just my .02.-Mezz

If you're looking for Houghton/Hancock I'd try the Super 8 or the Travel Lodge in town. Super 8 on the spur, Travel Lodge a block or 2 off, both walk to town, bars etc, Travel Lodge right in the middle of it.

he said April .
I would have to say north of the bridge and don't bank on trail very good chance u will be riding in the woods on the shade side of hills.
if I wanted a guarantee I would go for mid march.
and if not a big weekend the hurly talent can be down right disgusting.
un less u are 1 of the sickos in to bruises /water balloon tits/ fat rolls /baby stretch marks. come on the poor guy is already ruining his life don't add insult to injury to exposing him to local talent.

Looks like you are in MN. How far is the Black Hills from there? Might be more to do at night out there than in the UP, if that's what you're looking for.

yeah and dead wood is less than 2.5 hr more drive time .
and if weather bad in MI deadwood can be faster.
http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p3210340 This looks like a good home base for a party. craiglist some privet talent to come to the hot tub party.
they already have over 3 ft in the hills now.
trails are great off trail is great u have way more entertainment around deadwood.
if celebrating the end of a guys social life do it right

I agree with ezra, would definately consider deadwood from your location. Would be worth the small amount of extra time.

I guess it all depends on what you want in the bachelor party but instead of the UP, which we ride a bunch up there in the winter, we did Minocqua during their radar runs. It was a very good time and lots to do. Plenty of stops and places to hit.
