Planning a honeymoon to Keweenaw this summer. Where to stay?

We're thinking of spending a few days in the Keweenaw. I've never been farther north than Calumet, really, so I was thinking Copper Harbor would be nice for both of us. Any thoughts on nice places to stay, fun things to do, etc.? It would most likely be sometime in August. Thanks so much.

The Laurium Manor Inn is nice. Its a bed and breakfast. Very nice.

I'll second that!
A perfect place for a honeymoon, in a mining company baron's mansion, circa 1908: Click → The Laurium Manor Inn!

How about the Calumet Suite which was Cornelia and Thomas Hoatson's bedroom.

Or the Laurium Suite, which was originally the guest bedroom for the Hoatsons. Theodore Roosevelt reputedly stayed in this room during his campaign here for President in 1912.

If it's a B & B you want, then I don't think you can get more romantic than the Dapple Gray. It is a beautiful, huge, new, log mansion right on the big lake between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. Nothing like it up here, truly breathtaking.

Plus they are site supporters and supporters of motorized recreation in general (not that that matters for a honeymoon, but nice to support those that are not trying to turn the Keweenaw into a "silent sports" only area).

Everyone, thanks for the great suggestions. I'll explore the links you provided to learn more about each place. Great! Now, I'm just hoping the big lake cooperates and gives us some nice weather for sunset-watching and hiking!

Wow! If you can't go to the UP for a couple days, sounds like high maintenance to me. My wife and I snowmobiled for our honeymoon way back in 1984. You'll never guess where. The Keweenaw. Spent a week and still talk about it all the time. That was over 26 years ago!

I'VE never been ,,,, so I was thinking

Keeweenaw is a nice place to explore and visit, but only you can understand and know her. This is HER Honeymoon and what SHE may enjoy. I'm with ya Pro PC. Not because of rasins, but a man with a plan is a hero based on want SHE wants. If this is what SHE really wants, then do it.

And Skylar, there many Grt. Lk. shorelines and MI destinations that rival the Keeweenaw - UP and Lower. :)

There will plenty of time for "a couple of days" trips.

In the dating loop scheme I would not consider going where she may want High Maintenence.

I just pointed out the Keweenaw because that is where Matt said he was interested in going. I have pretty much been all over the U.P., well, from Baraga county west anyways. LOL.

Here are two shots of my daughter in the Porkies, sometime back in 99 or 2000?

You guys are too funny :) We have been talking about other destinations, and SHE keeps on saying the UP is where she wants to go. Looks like that's where we'll be :) Turns out that's where I want to go too.
