Sounds like you found a keeper. My wife waited for 5 yrs. before we got a real "Honeymoon". Long story, married 30 yrs. this June. If she is happy you will be happy.

If it's a B & B you want, then I don't think you can get more romantic than the Dapple Gray. It is a beautiful, huge, new, log mansion right on the big lake between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. Nothing like it up here, truly breathtaking.

Plus they are site supporters and supporters of motorized recreation in general (not that that matters for a honeymoon, but nice to support those that are not trying to turn the Keweenaw into a "silent sports" only area).

I'll throw in another vote for the Dapple Gray. My wife and I stayed there for our anniversary last year. It's a beautiful building, the sunsets are beautiful from the deck, and it's close to great hiking in Eagle Harbor (Lookout Mountain) and Copper Harbor (Keweenaw Mt. Lodge trails). The owners are supporters of both motorized and non-motorized recreation, as are most businesses in the Keweenaw.

Wow, PC that is cold!

Wow...talk about trash talkin the Keweenaw...holy smokes!

I understand where you are coming from, but trashing Michigan and the Keweenaw ain't gonna get you any friends brother...I am not sure, but after almost 15 years of HAPPY marriage and FOUR beautiful children (our 15th anniversary is coming in October)...all of which have been in Michigan, I have to disagree with you my friend...not everyone goes for the tourist infested traps like Hawaii and such...let the guy decide for himself and his bride to be...my goodness, chill out and let the poor man go where he wants to go! Not everyone is high maintenance and we all don't see spending thousands of dollars for a honeymoom as being the cats azz!! He was just askin' about where a good place would be for a honeymoon in the U.P., eh!!

Just so you know, any of the above mentioned places would be great for a honeymoon...don't let some FOLLOWER decide where you go. Pick the place and make it special...if she loves you and you love her everything will work out just fine! Enjot your honeymoon and give a honk as you pass my place here in Calumet...you can't miss us...we are in the big red house on US 41 (Calumet Avenue) just as you pass the Calumet schools on the left! Take care and congratulations on the marriage! And remember, it don't have a thing to do with where you are...IT IS WHO YOU ARE WITH!!!!!

Take care and enjoy your honeymoon whereever you end up!

au contrar DGR.....if you take your woman to keewanee 1st...then she will want hawaii and paris and all the others places after that.....but.....if you was to take her to the other places then she would say later on....naw....i been there lets go to the U.P. again....i was trying to save em some money and havein a good laugh aboot puski and the color blue dude. thats all...where do you get malice at? i doan care who you are
this is some funny shiitie....we all know U.P.ers are defiant and over the top when defending it.....so no surprise there

oh i know CHORDS....its the difference between BEET RED vs AZURE BLUE....and believe me ......I'Z SURE YOU DON'T WANNA SEE THE COLOR BLUE it what that means.....go for BEET RED or MAHOGONY there MATTI....blue is a zone you dont never want to enter.....thats why your givin her a ring.....a ring is the key to the box that HOLDS BEET RED MY FRIEND....and its hard to get anything BEET RED IN THE KEEWEENAW.....master CHANG has spoken....now go study your colors GRASSHOPPER....they are the keys to life

summary....1 U.P. honeymoon now will blow the wad so ta speak....LOL

enjoy MATTI as i know u know we was havein some fun

Yeah, yeah, yeah...

PC...just so you have all your facts straight, I was born and raised in downstate Michigan so the yoopers crack doesn't really apply. LOL!

Whatever...not trying to offend but I see that I must have...sorry about that!

Matti...I am sure that this goes without saying...have fun whereever you go and congratulations again. If you chose the Keweenaw for the honeymoon, you can't go wrong with any of the above choices!

Take care and enjoy the honeymoon!

Everyone, thanks again for the tips. We've decided on the Dapple-Gray for the weekend of August 20-23. We're very excited! How about bugs that time of year? Are they still bad? We'll be spending a lot of time outdoors, hiking, golfing (maybe), sightseeing, etc. Thanks!

Perfect time to be up here. Little to no bugs. Might have a few mosquitoes right at sunrise and again at sunset, but nothing worse than anywhere else in the Midwest.

August is really the best month up here for summer fun.

Have a great time!
