Hi Scott and thanks for the compliments!

Technically, they were all for Nora, but she is allowing me at least one (I am hoping for 2) to put berries in. We have blueberries, strawberries and blackberries going now and I would like to add raspberries. Gracie is getting 1/2 to 1 and Nora is going to put veggies and some flowers in the others. There will be a lot of them when all 9 are done, but I suspect that Nora will be able to fill them! She has quite the green thumb.

thanks for the info John, myself an others will enjoy watching the progress

the wildlife will sure enjoy the salad bar :) and you where nice enough to raise it all off the ground so the deer wont have to bend over :)

I know you mentioned possibly installing a fence later when time allows, but another idea for you is to get a motion activated sprinkler (I call them hammer head sprinklers). Google animal sprinkler and they will pop up. The idea is when the sprinkler sees motion (animals) the sprinkler turns on for a period of time, scaring away the animal. For your large salad bar spread you would probably need a few of these but its an idea.

Good luck and again nice job on the planters and thanks for sharing

You are right, I think we will be putting something up very soon. Two day and nights, with things in the planters and we have been lucky so far, but it probably will not take long for the deer to belly up to the salad bar!

So just curious why all the planters and not just till up the ground, add dirt and a fence?
My parents have huge garden and I love reaping the benefits. Lol. Hate to think of day they can't garden anymore.

The beds sit on top of the septic mound. There is only a couple of inches of top soil, then washed stone and then the pipes, so we could not plant on top of what was there and needed to make the raised beds. They have landscape fabric underneath them in case some roots of what is planted try and find their way to the pipes, but I don't think the plants we have send their roots that deep.
