Please Take Down Your Old Classified Ads

Hello All,

I went to take down my ad from a week or so ago and noticed there are still ads from 2013. This makes the Classified area lame as nobody knows what is for sale and what is sold or junked.

In the past, we thought if we put "sold" in a response that John would take them down but NO, WE MUST TAKE THEM DOWN OURSELVES!

All we have to do is go under Administrator in the top right area of our ad and delete our ad, very easy.

Thank you, Bear

If any of them are mine I'm sorry Bear. I try to stay on top of them. I'll look them over. Thanks.

It is right in the heading of the classifieds....Please delete your ads ...I like what the one guy on here did by signing up with the username SOLD and about a month ago went through a bunch of the sled classifieds and replied so that when these ads were viewed the word SOLD appeared as the last one viewing....very clever.
He needs to get back to it....not sure why the mods don't take care of business.

NO ABSOLUTELY NOT "he needs to get back to it" That did absolutely nothing, except show up as new posts. People need to take care of themselves and delete when sold.
most ads the OP posts sold, so the member SOLD only re posted sold on a lot of the ads.

Very true.
I was an offender last year but once I paid attention that I can delete my own ad I did, it was as simple as it comes.

You don't get it do you...it was borderline genius for this site...at first I didn't get what he was doing but as viewed from the list of sleds for sale you could now clearly see that these ads were useless and the sled was SOLD

I have scrolled thru many sleds for sale only to find the seller took the time to post sold but didn't bother to follow through and delete as JD requests you do.

I think the only solution is to do a craigslist type auto delete or manual delete after a certain time period.
It is obvious ppl enjoy posting the small pleasure of "sold" as some sort of victory....i don't get it.

I get it that it REALLY sucked having all those posts coming up as new posts when I come onto the site.
I wish people would delete as they are supposed to do.

Yea, agree, and unfortunately the "SOLD" guy probly didn't reach the targeted audience....LOL... many who post a sled for sale are only signed up to use the classifieds for there own business, then they be gone.

I went through and deleted all classified posts that have not had any activity for the past 6 months. This took care of all of the stale posts in the classifieds, but if someone marks them saying sold this process will not work, at least for another 6 months. I don't have the time, and I am sure John doesn't either to go in and look at every post to see if it sold. My thinking was if your items hasn't sold in 6 months and you haven't had the time to update it with more info, or reduce the price it probably isn't going to sell.

I'd be happy to monitor the classifieds if you want to make me a jr. tin star mod....LOL

I use to send a PM to the seller once he sold the item saying, "congratulations on the sale of your (item/sled) posted in the JD classified section, per the request of the host, please remove your ad, your cooperation is greatly appreciated".
Long story short, I could not keep up with it, so I stopped. This would take a lot of work for anybody, as such, I'm sure that's why John asked that it be removed by the poster. Despite the fact that the seller already has the ability to remove their own ad, I was thinking that it would be nice if there was a (SOLD) icon that the seller could click on & then the ad would get purged automatically in 12 to 24 hrs. Just a thought.:cool2:-Mezz

That was very generous of you, all sled types are down to one page.
Thank you.

One strange thing is present though, there are more Yamaha's for sale than any other type of sled yet they sell the least amount of sleds; does one venture (no pun intended) a hypothesis?

Paul stated he "went through and deleted all classified posts that have not had any activity for the past 6 months" so all ad categories are on equal footing, so my questions stands; "there are more Yamaha's for sale than any other type of sled yet they sell the least amount of sleds; does one venture (no pun intended) a hypothesis?
