I bought a 120 that has a governor bypass on it. Is there a way to detune it to go a little slower. My son is only 5 and I'd like him to get used to it first............

the go buy pass is just the steel paper clip size steel thing that is connected to carb that pulls gov when throttle is pulled just take it off.other good thing to do is just get some heavy foam chunk of wood or pen cap and double side tape it to back side of throttle done deal buy new yr you can pull throttle wedge out buy Feb put gov bypass back on buy April you can be ordering race cam pipe and clutch kit so the kid has a chance to win the grass dags.google mighty Minny governor deletion I think sportec makes them prob a a diagram someplace

Most of the kits I have put on are nothing more than a ty-wrap around the gov. spring. Look and see if there is a tie wrap through a spring near the carb. Just cut it off, you will be back to stock.
On a side note, the best way I have found to teach a kid throttle control is to tie a sled behind him and put in his favorite stuffed animals. If he goes too fast, or turns too sharp or stops too fast, the animals go flying, And most kids would never hurt their stuffed animals. They tend to learn to throttle it and stop it carefully. My kids learned to drive sleds at 3yrs. old each. Now my 13 yr old rides a 440 and my 10 yr old son rides a custom built 250cc bravo powered stand up chassis sled. (see my profile page for a picture). He can drive the 440, but prefers the stand up style. They also both have taken snowmobile safety training. In Mi your certificate is valid when you turn 12, but that dosent mean the kids cant take it sooner.

In MN they have to have the class, and then if they are under 14 (I think..) they can't cross roads by themselves, nor ride all on their own, without an adult near (on a sled) to help them. Once they are 15 (again, not 100% on the exact age, but could look it up), then they can ride without restriction. Anyone born after like 1975 has to take a class (online) and get a certificate as well. Lucky for me, I'm old.....

In mich. A child 12 yrs or older with a safety cert. can ride alone on any trail, and cross roads, go into town etc. My 10 yr old, even though he has a certificate, can't cross roads or go into town without direct adult supervision. Which means I ride with him. Not on his sled, just in direct supervision. He has ridden about 500 miles a year since he was 8. I had him out on the trail on his 120 at 7. Granted, we rode on short local rides, cant go real far on 1/2 gal of fuel. Our average trip since he got the bigger sled (custom one) is between 50-80 miles a day(his max fuel range) Going for a few 100 mile days this year, he's getting stronger, so he dosent get tired as fast.

I leave the by pass kit on and just adjust the throttle limiter bolt on top of the carb. I leave the lock nut loose so I can adjust the speed when my older daughter rides.

I was looking at the carb yesterday and thinking the same thing. I could just move that bolt out and it would stop the cable sooner. I was affraid that it would stop it too short and I would stretch out the cable when the kid kept pushing the throttle to the handlebars?
