Polaris 2010 Rush 600

A buddy of mine wants to cut me a heck of a deal on his sled, only 300 miles. It would be used as my wife's sled (about 125 lbs) and for my assorted buddies to drive on trail trips in the UP.

Aside from the fact that I will need to learn how to say Polaris without spitting, do any of you own this sled and do you like it? Is it underpowered?

If your wife will be driving it, get the tallest windshield that Polaris makes, it kinda ugly, but works well. They also make bolt on wind deflectors for the side panels that keep the wind off her knees. If your wife only weighs 125 pounds you may want to revalve the shocks to get a better ride for her.

As far as power it’s as good as any other 600 out there, it will not keep up with the 800’s on the lakes. The 2010 was the first year they made the Rushes and the 2011 has some improvements, but if you get a good deal, you can live without the 2011 improvements.

Your not going to tell us how good this deal really is are you :p

The rush suspension is a different world, many who rode it, don't want to ride anything else. I guess it's a good thing I'm still on a 6 year old sled?

I haven't ridden one, but from what I've been told by a dealer: (1) they are cold, (2) the engine is as strong as any other 600, and (3) like most new chassis, the initial year was so-so and they got better and better each year, so that the current model now rides as well as anything else out there and maybe better, depending on who you ask. I am not sure what changes they made from year-to-year.

One of my riding buddies has a 2010 Rush. Plenty of power, though he has had a few issues with his, I think its not common. Most seem to be pretty reliable. But it is super rough in the stutter bumps. The shock valving on the 2010s IMO is terrible. If your catching big air, or hitting 3ft moguls at 55mph, its great. But stutters at 30mph will jar your teeth out. I drove a base 2011 Rush with the fox shocks and thought it was perfect. If your gonna get it for your wife, and unless she's a "Professional Trail Racer" be prepared to either change out the shocks, or spend some coin trying to get the valving ride. JMO My next sled will be a rush with fox shocks.

p.s. I dont get cold easy, but when I do get one, it will have a mid-height or taller windshield. They are cold sleds.

I agree, the Fox shocks are the way to go for a smooth ride, which my 11 Rush LX has. Cold sled? With the windshield on the LX, I was never cold last year. In fact, I thought it was warmer than my 07 Switchback. I think my wife will be happy with my LX when my new Adventure comes in this fall. The Adventure has the wind deflectors on the side, but I don't know if they are needed. Maybe I just don't get as cold as some people. IMO the Rush has the best ride that I have had in all my sleds.

The fox shocks you are referring to - are those the floats? I was wondering how those work out. If they do ride well, they seem like a great idea because you don't have to have someone rebuild them all the time, they are easily adjustable, etc. But I'm interested in how they work out on the trail

No not floats. Just plain old pps5 fox shocks. IMO these are the best shock for anything from easy cruising to kinda aggressive riding. Not really good for jumping and stuff like that. I tend to be on the "PTR" side of riding and I love em.

I had some of the first style floats on the front of a Yamaha sled. They were ok, but I felt like I had to adjust them alot for different riding conditions. I didnt hate them, but I wouldnt pay extra for them either. Maybe they have gotten alot better now?
