Polaris 600HO Big Bore kit...HTG 660 kit or the SLP 727 kit?

The time has come to upgrade the ponies in my sled and I was curious to hear if any other John Dee'ers have worked with either of these kits. Not sure which direction to go at this point, but leaning toward the 727? If you have any experience with either please let me now your ideas.

Thanks,

TH

Appreciate the thoughts about Carls...I also would be interested in the 685 kit...Are you familiar with this setup?

I could be mistaken but the 727 kit is the one poo ran in the open class sleds a while back, i'm sure it's real powerful but those guys rebuild weekly, just sayin.

the 727 is for 3000k or over so the up is out and to top it off only 150hp for $2700 with out the $550 pipe $300 in reads.
the 660 is only 136 hp for $2500 plus the pipe and reads.
the 600ho is not a very good starting point for hp. not knocking/bashing I have one now and would not spend more on it than the pipe set I have.
sell it and put the 3800 you will never recoup on a new 800. heck you could sell your ho6 and buy a m7 for eaven money and have 140 hp stock. race port fatazzpipe boondocker you got 158 hp for under 2k.
buy a 09up m8 and have 160hp stock and still spending less than buying a BB for a 600ho.
or find a rebuilt poo carb 800 to drop in that thing and still be cheaper with about the same hp as the 660 kit and a good (well ok) starting point for mods.
your time and money just saying better ways to spend it if looking for HP than on a 600ho

slp pipe can carb and I dont know what it did for it I bought the sled used took it off the trailer and put it in the garage and installed the pipe and clutching.jetted to slp specks top and mid was good but had to drop pilot 2 sizes would just burbbel from idel to about 1/4 then it would clear out and go good.but new piolets cleard that up.
I got the pipe set up new from a guy over on www.backcountryrebbels he got it for his sled never installed so sold it to me for I think $350 they clame 131 could be close to that rolling start running trail a stock 153 m7 was only 1 sled lenth ahed in around 1500 to 2000ft.
oh and my poop is a 07 155 ho600 carb running slp blue and stock weights I have ground to my liking

Hey guys--Really appreciate your thoughts and ideas...I'm kinda into this machine though...Financially. I put the M10 air ride on this machine 4 years ago and spent more on it than the suspension for a Camaro. That being said I'm not looking for the fastest trail sled out of her just a lil more pep. I contacted Bikeman, Carls, HTG, and SLP...SLP won't sell the 727 to guys like me who ride under 3000 feet...I mostly ride in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan. So I discussed the 660 with all and all beleive that the 660 is bulletproof. I then saw the Carls 685 kit and this does have my attention. Espescially if I put twin pipes on it...They wouldn't give me any HP #'s but said it'll surprise you. I know the 600 HO was kind of weak out of the box but this will be my secondary sled so I'm mostly looking for some more pop and reliability...

I would go with the 660 for reliability. It really is nothing more than a 600 with 700 pistons. There's no voodoo custom piston or super rare one off cylinders.

I have worked on numerous SLP, D&D, Bikeman, Rugland, PSI, and HTG engines and just because a motor makes xxxHP on a dyno doesn't mean that motor will perform on the trail or in a race better than one with less power. Getting rid of the airbox on your stock 600HO will wake it up more than a pipe.

Why not just do a mild port and polish on the jugs and be done with it. 60cc. for a couple grand is not worth it to me for a secondary ride. I suppose you could add the pipes/jetting along with the porting and be money ahead. Can you take 700 jugs and install them on the base? I have done this with Kohler 440 liquid jugs on a 650 free air (Speedway), 500 jugs on the Polaris 400 bottom, and many others. Swapped super MOD jugs on my merc snowtwister as well. What is the bore/stroke for the 600 vs. 700?

The 700 cylinders don't bolt on to the 600 bottom end. Different architecture.

and DO NOT DO BMP some of the pipes are ok and the fat azz for F7/8 is great, but there porting is a joke! I think they drop of the jugs at the local jr high shop class and let them do the work.I have seen many ported bb kits from BMP all bad some just imbarising to look at.
they have goten better in the last few yrs but still not high end heck not mid grade.
but yeah looking for more power a quality port/ pull the twin air horn from air box replace with a trippel horn from a 800 or newer 600/ more intake vents in dash/ pipe kit/ cut head/timing key/still 1/2 the cost of a 660 kit and prob very close in power.
do not start a project like tis unless you know you are a compatant tuner not just a top end swapper who knows nothing about reading wash knowing what every change in the carb will do before you do it .
projects like this are not tuned buy calling some one and asking what would you run for jets it is done on the lake with hrs of dinking around
