Polaris Drive Shaft

I blew the speedo side driveshaft bearing on my 02 Polaris 700.

How far does the new bearing go on the shaft, flush with end of shaft?

Do you just tap it on?

Thanks,

Tutone

You will want to leave the speedo side bearing loose on the shaft until you get everything installed and than you tighten the cam collar with a punch once it is all togeather.

Non-Collar

I have the non-collar type, press on.

I am concerned that the bearing may need to be pressed on farther than it currently is.

So, using the end of the driveshaft as the guide, where does the bearing sit?

Flush, in a little, or out a little? Right now it the bearing is close to flush but not quite.

Thanks!

Like said above...if everything in the chain case is tight the bearing cups will place the bearing where it needs to be. I believe on the 02 you won't have to take out the shaft. Just loosen the track and it can be done right on the sled. No press is needed. The hardest part is getting the old one off.

I have already put the bearing in, did not have to take out the shaft.

My concern was that the shaft (bearing) seemed to be tight at the cup. The shaft spun freely and I know that the shaft cannot push out the chaincase side due to the chaincase bearing. But could it expand the tunnel at the drive shaft location.

Again, the bearing was not sitting exactly in the inside cup, I needed to use the outer cup to pull it all together.

I think its probably OK, but just wanted to get others thoughts!

Thanks,
