Polaris IQ vs IQ Shift

Other than CFI vs carb what are the differences between these two sleds? Buddy is looking at a 600 carryover at a dealer. Tracks the same? I think different shocks? Thanks!

Graphics and shock package are the main difference. The shift uses non-rebuildable shocks. Depending on the model year, some of the engines were 2 injector, some 4. My 09 Shift 136 I believe is a 2 injector motor. The guage package is also different. IQ has multifunction gauge with digital fuel, Shift has needle on gas cap. If you like factory graphics and ride hard buy the IQ with better shocks. If you don't care about graphics and are willing to throw out shocks and replace every few years, save a bunch of money and buy the Shift.

Good luck.

What leftover year is your buddy buying?

I have a 2010 Shift 600. The following are the differences between the two:

IQ has a 1" hacksaw track. Shift has .92 track.

IQ has better shocks all the way around. Shift has non-rebuildable shocks.

IQ has graphics. Shift does not.

The 2010 motors are exactly the same. That means that my Shift is CFI just like the IQ. They quit doing carbs in 2010. I don't know about the 2009 models.

The dash and digital stuff is all the same. Including the digital gas gauge. I think that you may be able to raise and lower the headlight beam on the standard IQ and you can't on the Shift.

I'm extremely happy with my Shift. I have custom graphics on it anyway. I have not ever thought; I wish I could raise or lower the headlight beam.

I did put a different track on it, but it has a 1.352 lug. Way bigger than either the standard IQ or Shift. I also put an adjustable rear shock on it. It seems to help with the ride.

My understanding was that the 09 was also carb. That is what he's looking at. Thanks for all the info...

ok, i couldnt quite remember if 09 was carb or not. I guess i could've looked it up before i posted, but i went and did my 10 min. worth of homework and came back on here :)

My buddy picked up an 09 shift this past fall. It has the adjustable head light and it is carbed. Ive rode it and I like it. I would buy. That is if I can sell my edge.

I had both a 08 and still have a couple of 09 121” Shifts. All are carbureted. The 08 didn’t come with a thumb warmer and just had a dip stick for a gas gauge. The 09 has a thumb warmer and a gas tank gauge on the tank. The 09 long tracks had 2 injector Clean Fire Engines, this engine was only used in 2009. All of them are 600cc. The 2010 and 2011 have 4 injection Clean Fires, but the cost went up a grand more then the carbed versions.
