polaris triple floodding problems

I have a 2000 indy triumph with a 600 xlt triple engine and the flatslide carbs.
Last year I had problems with the machine flooding after I stopped it and it sat for more than 15 mins. The floats and needle and seat looked fine but when I removed the 2 screws that hold the floats in the carb and removed the float assembly from the carb it came out without any resistance. This just did not seem right because a O-ring seals the float assembly to the carb here. So I looked at the polaris website to see if I could get O-rings. They only sell the complete assembly go figure for $57 each. So I hunted for some gas resistant Orings of the same size and found them in a manufacturing parts book. I only could purchase them in quantities of 25 so I purchased 25 O-rings even though I only needed 3. I installed the O-rings and then installed the float assembly into the carbs. They now had some resistance when I pushed them into position. I Tried them out the other day and do not have anymore flooding problems. If you have a flooding problem and have the flatslide carbs with the Oring on the floats you may have the same problem I had. I do have some O-rings left over I couold sell if anyone is interested.

You could've bought them from your polaris dealer, they sell them. But, you probably paid less for 25 of them then what a dealer would want for 3.

I never checked with the polaris dealer locally I just looked online at a Polaris website and they never showed them. I bought viton O-rings made for use in gasoline. it was $10 for 25 of them and $10 for shipping. Main thing now is it works.
