Polaris XCF to Liquid conversion

I love my Edge chassis and I'm not in a position to replace my sled anytime soon but I had a few bucks and started collecting parts to install a XC XP 500 engine in my XCF chassis.

Has anyone else attempted this swap? I'm goping to start cleaning up the ebay pieces (including the engine and pipe) this weekend. I'm just looking to see if anyone has tried this already and what were the pitfalls.

Thanks in advance...

Make sure you get all the electronics too. You will have to get all the cooling system parts from a wreck or something. You dont want to buy it all new. The chassis is the same, so it will fit just fine. Good luck

Wow, that's a project. I'd think it would be easier and cheaper just to buy a used 600 ProX. I don't know how you will get the coolers to fit on the chasis without leaking etc. That's going to be a ton of work even if the cost is less to buy everything you need to convert it

Sounds like it would be fun, but just question whether it's worth the time and effort. eBay is great, but if you pay shipping on all those items, you've added 15% to 20% to your cost....

Either way, sincere good luck and I hope it turns out well for you!

should be a fairly easy swap, all the hole are already drilled for cooling line and everything. you just have to make sure you have everything that is needed.

how are you going to mount fr cooler? man I would think in the long or short run it would be cheper to buy the liquid.even if your sleds motor is trashed part it out worth more that way any way.you will prob have 1200 bucks from that another 350 to 500 for the liquid you have now that is around 1500 I have seen some decent late model sleds for 1500 to 2000

I considered buying a different sled, lots of politics involved with that with the Spousal Unit! I was looking for a project anyway and I bought the motor in a beer-induced fog...

Another issue is where I live. Most Illinois snowmobilers think their stuff is gold plated at resale time, if you get my drift and the dealers (the few of them that are left) are even worse than buying privately.

I'm a mechanical engineer by trade so the building shouldn't be too bad, especially sinec I've rebuilt a damaged sled from the ground up before. I've already sourced all the heat exchangers and the engine came with the CDI and coil. I found the wiring harness online last night so when that shows up I'll tear her down and get started.

If I remember I'll try and post some pictures while I go along...sometimes I get going too fast to remember too take build pics!

Thanks for the input everyone!
