Polartec 200 as midlayer from Cabelas

I bought a e-vent shell jacket from Polaris and I am needed to buy a thicker fleece midlayer to go under it. I noticed Cabelas has some good prices on the Polartec fleeces.

Anyone bought any Cabelas-branded clothing...does it hold up? Is the 200 weight about right? I will probably order online so it's hard to tell. Looking for something similar in weight and warmth to the Klim everest...

I have good luck with Cabelas brand clothing but I did run into a issue just this week that was interesting. I bought my wife a pair of Cabelas Inferno 2000 Pac Snow boots last year just before we went out west. She wore them 5 days last year and 5 days this year (within 1 years time period) The last day of this year she had one of the lace loops pull out of the leather. No Problem "Cabelas Brand clothing and footwear is guaranteed for the life of the product under normal wear and tear". This statement is right on the product and on their website. I'm thinking that 10 days worth of use is well under the normal "Wear and tear" so I head to Cabelas. They still make the same boot so swapping same for same is not an issue. They have that same size boot so we got that covered!!! Here is the Kick in the pants: Cabela determines what is the "Life of the Product" and the warranty is Pro rated for that time period. These boots have a life of 3 years as per Cabela. (socks are 6 months and all others are between these two time periods) Since the boots are over a year old , by 7 days, I will need to pay the pro rated surcharge to get a replacement pair of boots ($32 on $129 boots). I asked them to show me the paperwork/web page that describes Cabelas warranty. They couldn't!!! The customer service rep saw that I was going to blow a nut so he called the Manager. The manager told be that he didn't agree with the policy but he had the power to make things right. I got new boots Yeh!!!! I still think they have good product and I have always had good customer service but I hold lower value to thier warrranty.

We (me, husb, kids) have bought everything from Cabela's from clothes to boots to lawn chairs to camping equipment and always liked what we got. Always happy with the clothing - wears well - and I have some items that are over 10 years old now!

Have only had one issue for something that was shipped YEARS ago and when I called them on the phone they sent out a replacement no questions asked. We have a store around us now so don't have to call anymore...but always appreciated the fact that someone answered the phone! I ordered a weather station for the husb a few years back - wasn't sure which was which and what was what. Got a guy on the phone that said "ya know? I'm not sure. I always hear "bob" talk about that kind of stuff so I bet he'd know...but he's at lunch. I can take your number and have him call you?" Bob called back within the hour and answered all I needed to know.

doo_dr - glad they did the right thing. And am sure if you'd had to, could have called their main offices and gotten it squared away. But that is good to know that "lifetime" doesn't mean MY lifetime!

I know, way too much info!? :)

i don't have a polatec jacket, but i bought cabelas 300wt polartec pants. They are great fit and quality pants, very warm and comfortable under my Klimate bibs, but 300wt i think would be quite thick for a mid-layer jacket. i would try the 200wt.
