My first sled I bought, was a used 1979 El Tigre, 500 bucks, in 1987. My latest sled, 2012 Pro RMK 8 hundy, I paid $10,500 for. Sleds are expensive, but, that will never stop me. LOL.

A 72 Cheetah was my first. Even had electric start and think I paid $400 for it in 79.
I do remember the leopard skin seat, cool !!

In early winter of 1968, my Dad came home with a used 1965 Arctic Cat (our first sled). It was red and white with a
polar bear on the side of the hood. Not sure how much he paid for it. One year later, I split the cost of a brand new 1970 Skiroule with my Dad. If I recall accurately, the total price was around $700.00. It had a 277 cc Sachs motor and was a dream for a 13 year old boy. Thanks Dad.

Funny how some things stick with you and yet many of us can't recall what we had for lunch just yesterday. Dad brought home a new Arctic Cat Panther Christmas Eve 1968. He paid $800 for it and that included a free case of Snobil Oil.

One of the first to offer a Slide Rail Suspension, 19 h.p. JLO Rockwell with steel cleats, leopard seat and a built in tool box between your knees.

1971 Puma, my grandfather & uncle brought it down from my uncles snowmobile shop in Marcy NY. Must have been 1975 /76 or so. Grandfather rebuilt the crank/motor, he had his own motor building section in my uncles shop, they used to call him Dr. Kawasaki !

My first sled was a 1980 Arctic Cat 6000. Liquid cooled and FAST as heck. At the time, I believe, it was one of the fastest sleds produced. Bought it used in '86. Took my first trip up north with it and rode 10 foot mogels (or so it seemed!) all day long and loved it ever since. First new sled was a '99 Arctic Cat ZL600 EFI.

Started in mid 60's when my Mom bought my Dad a brand new Moto-Ski. Then we had Polaris, Scorpion, and then Chaparral. Sorry, can't remember the years. The first one I bought was a brand new Chaparral 440 liquid( a Thunderbird,I think) in the crate the year they went out of business for $600.00. Then a 78 Kawasaki 440 Invader, wish I still had it!
