Proud dad moment

My daughter is a sophomore in HS right now and has been very active in the regional and state science fair programs and competitions since she was in seventh grade. This yr at the regional event her project, The Study of Micro Plastics on the Feeding and Reproduction rates on Daphnia in the Water Ways, won her another trip to the State Competition along with winning trips to the ISWEEP, International Sustainability World Engineering, Environmental, and Energy Project, in Houston, TX and the Genius Jubilee event in Oswego, NY. So yesterday at the awards ceremony in Houston she won a bronze medal for her project competing against kids from all over the world. Couldn't be more proud of all the effort she's put into this project.

Congratulations to father and daughter, many reasons to be proud. And by the way, the subject matter is way, way, way, over my head. :smile:

Ya I was gonna say isnt science fair for blowing up volcanos and stuff?? Whats all that data and information?? Sheesshhhh. Just like my neighbor talking about his 16 year old doing robotics competitions.... Congrats on the kid Mr. Elf!!

I'm sure you're going to have a quite a few of these moments in the coming years. :smile:

Congrats Elf, that's a great accomplishment! So as a biologist I have to ask....what were her results?

So her results did show that they don't reproduce as much but was inconclusive on the feeding habits. She's done offshoots of this study on crayfish also that did show a reduction in feeding and weight gain on crayfish.
Maybe I need to ingest some micro plastics if it causes weight loss and less feeding!
