Question on track upgrades?

Tossing around adding another sled to the fleet. I have a mxz e-tech shorty and it has exceeded my expectations in the first year. I am looking for more traction and knew the 1 inch that came standard may not be sufficient. The 600 e-tech is paired well with the shorty but when you add a longer track or deeper lugs I am sure I will lose power and top end. Here's my question. What would put more stress on the 600?

A. Upgrading from a 1 inch to a 1.25 track in the shorty
B. Upgrading sled to renegade with a 137 1 inch track

Opinions on other sites I visit have led me to belive I will enjoy faster starts and stops with either choice. I enjoy throwing the shorty around but there were times when I had her pegged just to stay a float!

why bother with a 1 1/4 I ran a 121 1.5 for yrs way back in the day on trippels and could get around ok in the deeper stuff.if you are goung with a 1 1/4 you are prob looking at a rip saw and they blow in the deep but the diff is top end will be a non issue poss -1 mph.going to a 137 and sticking with a 1in track is a huge wast of time and money but fyi the 137 will hook up faster off the line and stop faster not a whole lot of short track heavy mod drag sleds .top end will suffer but dropsome gearing work the cluching get the skid set up correct and you will get a huge jump over your sled in stock fourm it would take a good size lake for it to real you in and lets face it most races are over in 1000ft or less.I still think of a 136 1.5 as a trail sled that can go off trail sometimes but better suted as a ditch banger/trail sled taht will work ok on loging roads but not breaking trail thrugh the woods.if I were in your shoes I would think hard about a 1.5 121 studed paddel track or a 1 3/4 121

Thanks for the input. I know for sure whatever I choose will at least have a 1.5!

I have a Dragon SB 800 136 with the 1.25 Ripsaw. Awesome on trails and two tracks but I wish I had at least an 1.5 to ride off trail. It's just too much power and not enough rubber for deep powder. Had an IQ 121 with the 1.25 Ripsaw, same story. If you don't ride powder, put a Ripsaw on your current sled. If you want to explore, get the 137 with at least a 1.5 on it.

If I were you I would go and find a 1997 Pol XLT and extend it out to a 162 and put an asphalt track on it with cleats every 6 inches. Get a shorty windshield with flames on it. Then you would really have something.

Ditto on the 1.5 - 1.75 (if you can't go with the stretch XLT).

I have a friend that runs a 600 E-TEC Renegade with a 1.75 x 137 x16 Powdermax. It's awesome off-trail it still seems to work well for most trail conditions. Puts my Renegade with the 1.25 Ripsaw to shame off-trail. He sure doesn't seem to lack for power but he might be running a little lower gearing so I suppose he has a little less top end than a shorty MXZ.
