Rain X On shield

Bought new helmet. Looking to change from goggle setup to full shield. Was going to Rain X the new shield. Read on rain X instructions only use on plastics pre-approved by manufacturer. It also says not to use if coated with anti-reflective or scratch resistant coatings.
Nothing on pack for elective shield if coated or approved for rain x use.
Anyone use rain X on face shields?

I never thought much of Rain X for snowmobiling or cars/trucks. I used it on my glasses to prevent fogging but fog zero was much better for fogging. I also slopped Rain X on my sled windshield to prevent icing also didn’t work well. What is your specific need for your visor?

All Rain X is is wax when it comes right down to it. You have to be careful doing plastic surfaces so you don't scratch the plastic. Use a very soft very clean cloth when you wipe off the Rain X after it dries. I have been using it for years. It does nothing to prevent fogging but it was never intended to.

Tried it. didn't work that well for me, use heated shields now but provide little defense against freezing precip.

Don't think I would use it. It is a wax like mentioned above that fills in the voids in glass to reduce the areas water can build up, causing it to flow over your windshield. Different application on a snowmobile helmet. I have found the BEST situation in rain or freezing rain is plug in your visor and attempt to ride below your windshield.

I'm going to try shaving cream on my wife's glasses this weekend. I had seen something on FB. Not sure if that could work on plastic though?

Fog Zero is the best for preventing fog on glasses. Really works for me. Lando Rec sells the stuff your wife will appreciate the stuff big time.

WD, thanks for the tip! Heading to Boulder this weekend though but should be heading through Lando in a couple weeks. I did look on their website for a "local retailer" link but didn't see one. Will try the shaving cream this weekend and either order the FZ online or again grab some from Lando in a couple weeks!

Rain X does make a product just for plastic. I have used it on the windshield of my SXS and works well. I have not tried it on goggles or face shield yet.

Rain X is weak and doesn't last long at all. Opti-Seal or similar products are much more durable for car windshields, not sure how they would work on shields though.

Tried the shaving cream method this weekend and it worked a little better than the hand sanitizer we were trying. Considering it was single digits and sub zero temps yesterday it did rather well. Will still be ordering the Fog Zero to give it a try.
