Rear Shock question...

I just bought a used MXZ1200TNT and it has about 6k on it. The rear suspension is very soft and I made the adjustments to the hardest settings and put more tension on the front track shock but the sled is easy to compress and it does not spring all the way back up. You can lift it the rest of the way up which is about 3 inches. I took off the gas shock and it presses down pretty hard (compresses) but comes back out very very slowly. Does it need a rebuild? it should spring back pretty fast right? thanks for the info.

Shocks always sag a bit .....my 2003 MXZ shocks needed rebuild every 3k miles compressed too easy even after stiffer springs. 2nd rebuild was better rebuilder used racing oil which was thicker.

fast is bad...yours sounds good. Try adjusting spring tension for stiffness.

If those 6k miles are on the original shock I'd say it's well past time for a rebuild/replacement.
