Rebuilding a 2001 Arctic Cat 600EFI

I have a 2001 Arctic Cat ZL 600 EFI that a Piston ring caught on an exhaust port and broke the Piston. A friend is helping me rebuild the engine. I bought refinished Cylinders and Wiseco Pistons. I’m sending the Lower End in to a friend of his to pull it apart and clean it and make sure nothing is wrong with it. Once it is all back together and running do I need to run oil in the gas?? If so can I use the same Amsoil I run in the sled?? Is there a break-in period?? If so, what speed/rpm max and for how long (miles)?? Thanks in advance for any help

I did the same thing this year and was told, 8 ounces of oil in the first full tank of gas. Vary your speeds much like the recommended break in period for a new sled. Let it warm up before you start riding as well. Per the AC dealer.

from what I gather is the oil has 2 purposes 1 extra lube 2 oil wont burn so you are actually running more lean and a bit hotter and that helps rings seat faster.1 tank of gas you should be good to go with break in first 25mi no more than 1/2 throttle never keep at same rpm next 25 keep moving throttle not over 3/4 throttle.rest of tank you can keep at more of a tight trail on off gas same rpm for a bit at a time few bursts to just over 3/4 then refill and go pound the piss out of it and see if she holds.or just pull out of the shop put 10 mi on it and then ride it like you stole it they both work.what ever oil you are running in your sled will work

Check the piston and ring clearence when using wiseco pistons. They need more clearence then stock pistons. Very important!
