Reciprocity for MI and WI.

Do you think that reciprocity would work for the UP and WI or if the two states came together and had one pass for both states lots of people seem to ride in both. Let me know what you think. Pros and Cons.

Reciprocity

I think it would be a good idea. I think there are an awful lot of sledders that sled in both states regularly. Of course, they would probably raise the price of a 2 state pass understandably.

I would love it as it would be convenient (pro) but unfortunately the two states would never be able to agree on how to “split-up” our money (con).

I would think that neither state would want less revenue than they are currently getting. So the price of the 2 state permit would have to be equal to what the individual permits are for both states. If it were the same price as buying both states seperatly then you would be causing those that only sled in one state to pay for something they will never use. I think the number of people who would start to sled in both states because of a combined permit would be less than the people who have no plans to snowmobile in one or the other. I have never snowmobiled anywhere but the central UP and don't think I would snowmobile in WI just because there is a combined permit.

People piss and moan about buying two passes now, there would probably be just as many complaining about a combined pass and not ever riding in one of the states and then we'd here that group whining.

Maybe one of the states would gain revenue by making it a joint permit. Perhaps it would draw some that don't travel that much into their state. As stated, neither state will want to give a discount pass if combined though. Can't please everyone.

I see your points but when I drive my car or take my boat to a different state I don't have to register it. But it makes a good discussion.

It breaks my heart to hear you get to buy all those permits; not;(slightly jealous)

MI could do a "Free Pass" Saturday. No Trail Sticker required. Just like the No Fish License days they do twice a year.

That might pull a few riders across the border for a day anyway. Maybe enough to get em hooked into buying one. ? ?
