Recommendations for Minocqua

I will be taking the wife on her first snowmobile trip up to Minocqua next weekend. I want to try and make this a good experience for her so I am looking for recommendations for the area. Things like decent trails to take her on, nice places to stop along the way, any kind of sightseeing things in the area, definitely looking for good places to eat breakfast or dinner. We are staying at the pointe and I probably wont go too far with her, maybe over to St Germain or Sayner one day, and then up towards Manitowish Waters another. Any kind of information or advice would be helpful in making this a memorable trip for her.

For her first snowmobile trip you may consider riding some less traveled trails to the west. much more weekend traffic and bumps going where you are thinking. loop around towards price county/chequamgon forest.....just a thought

Good advice being given,,plenty of stops in the area,,try the Edge for supper,,good food and service. As far as things to see just depends on what direction and route you take.

If you end up in Boulder Junction area, there are some nice local shops there as well as several restaurants that are nice. Spend an hour or so on main street to break the riding up) You can get gas as well at the shell station. Guides Inn for dinner or Boulder Beer Bar for lunch. Headwaters for lunch or dinner.

Down closer to Minocqua (North of Minoqua) is Marty's Place North. Great place for dinner as well.

Of course these are just my opinions, but none of these places has ever let me or my wife down. Always great food and atmosphere.

Have fun!

Head west to ride the less crowded trails and she will have a more enjoyable ride. The trails are generally wide and all forest riding.

For breakfast I would try the Black Bear Bar on Hwy 70 west maybe 10 miles from Minocqua. For dinner a good choice is Chef Rene's Back Bay Cove on Lake Shishebogema. It's also about 10 miles west on Hwy 70. Back Bay Cove also has a gas pump down near the lake if you need to refill.

4 Seasons on Big Arbor Vitae just a short ride north from Minocqua. Great food !! Hands down our favorite place in that area. On the lake ( trail) quiet and away from traffic ,yet close.

Ok , this is on our list when in St.Germain. For breakfast the Wolfpack 426 Wisconsin 70 St.Germain. For dinner Plantation Supper Club 11084 Wisconsin 70 Woodruff, White Stag 7141 St. Hwy 17 Rhinelander and Mcgregors Blink Bonnies 8997 Wisconsin 70 St.Germain. At the White Stag our party orders the smoked pork chops and haddock. The dressings are awesome at the White Stag. At Blinks its Strip,Porterhouse,Ribeye. The house dressing amazing. At the Wolfpack its the Joes Special and on Sunday the Shrimp Creole. All places are snowmobile friendly !!

I agree with all of this. maybe ride south to LAKE Tomahawk.

In and around Minocqua the trails are usually traveled heavily and most of the time bumpy.....get out of town to ride... the West and southwest down into the Willow area is usually great, she will enjoy it out there....

Food places, all of the above are good recommendations.... have fun!

Lake Plaid has the best breakfast. Off of Fence lake. Worth the ride. Ride west on trail 12 to Bucksnort. 19 to the covered bridge. Good luck. A HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE. I will be in the area with my wife riding..
The EDGE has the best supper menu.. on tril double AA off of 12 or 7.

I would also recommend Price County for great trails and less traffic. If you're near St Germaine you have to stop for a visit at the Snowmobile Hall of Fame.

If you go to Lake Placid make sure you write name and how many on the board. you wont get seated until you do. Awesome breakfast.

I think Price county would be a bit too far to travel with the wife. I would recommend a ride to sayner as a "long enough" ride (at least it is for my wife). take trail 51N to 6E. Then you can return on 9/11 to 51 over big arbor vitae lake. South and west of town is nice, but not as many options for stops. Look at the maps, as there are some nice "loops" to take, while not going too far out. Regarding food (dinner), Marty's is close to town (just north) good on sled. If you want a really good meal, and service The guides inn Boulder junction hands down. Take the car unless you want the 2 hour ride home at night. My wife and I have been going there for 20 years. Will not be cheap. Good luck
