Be careful at the Steer.

x2 for Blink Bonnie's steaks.

Jacobi's in Hazelhurt has a nice meal, but again the price tag is there. Reasonable and excellent Friday fish fry.

The Nineteenth Hole near St. Germaine is an almost unknown gem. They recently hired a new chef/GM that does an excellent job. Watch this place.

The Watering Hole south of Hazelhurst has a great Mexican spread. Be ready to put the feed bag on.

A little further south off Highway 8 is the Silver Birch. The Friday blue gill is excellent and they make a great cocktail. Wonderful Clear Lake view from the bar.

Spang's east of St. Germaine on Highway 70 has great Italian.

Any recommendations for Houghton/Hancock over the New Year weekend? We like the Library and Joey's is always good.

Is that the old Barb and Fred's? Have they changed the program from what it used to be?

NO Barb and Freds is now under new owners two weeks or so and called Anglers.

EDGE is the old RUSTIC INN. The place is now run by Glen and Chris. Good food and very nice people..

There's been at least 2 or 3 owners since Pete and Julie had the Rustic. How long have Glen and Chris had it? We haven't had much luck there.

Wasn't going to say anything since my name is mud around here lately for harsh criticism.
Heard alot about Blink Bonnies for years, finally went there about 3 years ago and was less than impressed. Meat was not cooked to requested spec and prices were a bit high IMO.
I haven't been back since and don't plan to be with all the Bear garb hanging on the walls in the middle of Packer country. Seemed to be a bit in your face with the flatlander stuff.

Thanks, we'll give it another try. We fish the Willow Flowage a fair amount and it's been closed during some odd times, which lead us to believe it has continued to flip. Guess not.

Keeping things in a more positive perspective, if you are riding anywhere west of Eagle River on Trail 10?, or north of St. Germain, around the Sayner area, Vinchi's Hillside has very good food. True home cooking. Fish fry had there last year was spectacular. Very small dining room, but they serve in the bar as well. I plan to be there on 31-Dec, early PM if you want to verbally abuse me for earlier comments.

The chili verde we had at the Mexican place (I forget the name) in Conover was excellent as well. The place is always packed with sleds since the cafe closed. Anyone know if the cafe is reopened, or plans to?

Yes - Tiplers in Conover.
I'm lost for destination names without my trail map.
Thanks Mike

The Red Steer is a great restaurant in Minocqua, and I have never had a bad meal there. They do provide free appetizers samples when a dinner is ordered consisting of beans, coleslaw, meat balls, etc. Cy and Tom have owned this for many years and are always very accommodating.
The best fish fry in the Minocqua area is Four Season Supper Club and Resort located in Arbor Vitae. Here is the address and phone: 10338 Big Arbor Vitae Drive, Arbor Vitae, WI 54568 (715-356-5095). The only thing is get there early as they do get busy on Friday evening.

I have to agree Blink Bonnies has not been the same what I remember of the past. Its still decent would go if I did not have to wait. The Red Steer was good when I ate there just do not make it to Minocqua like I use to.
