Red Steer in Minocqua Wi.

Accessible

The Red Steer is a great restaurant in Minocqua, and I have never had a bad meal there. They do provide free appetizers samples when a dinner is ordered consisting of beans, coleslaw, meat balls, etc. Cy and Tom have owned this for many years and are always very accommodating.
The best fish fry in the Minocqua area is Four Season Supper Club and Resort located in Arbor Vitae. Here is the address and phone: 10338 Big Arbor Vitae Drive, Arbor Vitae, WI 54568 (715-356-5095). The only thing is get there early as they do get busy on Friday evening.

Great info!! Is the Four Season Supper CLub accessible by trail?

Food & Lodging

Skyview in Presq Isle good food and lodging. Motel rooms are old but clean and warm and the restaurant and bar are very accomadating. The hosts Dana & Adam are very hospitable and are always on site to help you. Not to mention there snomobile package which is $30.00 for two nights lodging and a breakfast and evening meal included. \ Give them a call I Have been there for the last 2 years on and off. The worst part is you have to travel trail 6 either east or west and it is usually not real good.

There is a little bar down at Lake Tomahawk that has the best broasted chicken and broasted potatos. It's an irish name? Murphys or something.
I also like Lakeside down on Tomahawk Lake-kinda on the south end off 51.
Did they ever re-open a Spangs in Minocqua after it burned down?

Keeping things in a more positive perspective, if you are riding anywhere west of Eagle River on Trail 10?, or north of St. Germain, around the Sayner area, Vinchi's Hillside has very good food. True home cooking. Fish fry had there last year was spectacular. Very small dining room, but they serve in the bar as well. I plan to be there on 31-Dec, early PM if you want to verbally abuse me for earlier comments.

The chili verde we had at the Mexican place (I forget the name) in Conover was excellent as well. The place is always packed with sleds since the cafe closed. Anyone know if the cafe is reopened, or plans to?

The Mexican restaurant in conover IS Tiplers, and although all the times I have had their food it's been great, they are almost never open. The bar that gets the real attention in Conover IMHO is The Log Cabin right next to the cafe (Open now and called Scoobys North, associated with Scoobys in Sayner, I believe). Go to the "Log cabin" for outstanding pizza and one he11 of a steak. It's changed hands a couple of times in the last 10 years but it retains the pizza recipe through owners and is excellent.

Rounding out my picks in the Northwoods:
Bent's Camp on the chain for friday night fish fry
Bear Trap in Land O Lakes for garlic stuffed tenderloin
Black Oak Inn in Land O Lakes for BIG BURGERS
Betty Boops @ T&M lanes in Land O Lakes for the best bar food.....bar none

I have to agree Blink Bonnies has not been the same what I remember of the past. Its still decent would go if I did not have to wait. The Red Steer was good when I ate there just do not make it to Minocqua like I use to.

This would be my opinion of Blinks as well, right off...the bread is no longer the fresh loaf. though the recycled cows are still good. No one has mentioned The Plantation or Marties here...good IMO.

Great post, Keepem coming !!!

Little Musky bar in Woodruff for a sirloin burger, not bad either. Sportsland Bar & Chile Pepper cafe on the north end of Tomahawk, 11 miles west of 51, 5 miles east of Tripoli, also very good food. They are right on the trail and have rooms also.

The Shamrock

Smiley's next door is nice too...never ate there but good people.

Red Steer is good as you can get around here, im sittin in woodruff now lookin at the beautiful stars out tonite. Four Seasons is the best and most popular fish fry around, get there early there is always a wait, sometimes 1 hour plus. looks a little iffy for new years eve but ill still be riding unless its pourin rain. the best bash for new years is at Sayner Pub. THE PLACE IS FAMILY FRIENDLY EVEN ON NEW YEARS!! we will be there with a bunch of kids on new years eve, they put out a free spread of food and free champange for everybody there the owners ar soo nice and very sled friendly. also a good place for kids is Webers right down the trail from Sayner pub, plan on checking them out. The 19th hole in St. Germain has been a great place for a while now and I hear even better lately from what I hear. Nobody should be complaining in the Northwoods, cant ask for a better place to be for the Holiday!!!!! Arctic Cat out!!
