Last night (Wednesday) We rode from Rosemount down to almost Randolph, over to Miesville for a burger at King's Place, then back up through Coates and over to Rosemount. About 60 miles on the clock.
The farm trails weren't great. Better conditions than we have had for the last few seasons, but still plenty of frozen dirt clods and corn stubble sticking out. The tops of the hills in open areas were blown clean. Areas where you were running next to a fenceline or treeline were decent. We came upon a groomer, and it was better to ride in the unpacked snow than the groomed trail. I would expect that to improve as the groomed ribbon sets up.
[cough] Ditches [cough] were actually decent to ride. The last segment of our ride was the big ditches along County 46 from Coates to Rosemount. Fun to play in and really decent snow.
Overall, it's good to get out, but we could use a few inches of wet, heavy, system snow to cover some of the bare spots.
