Refinishing cabinets

Our house has painted cabinets. They were originally stained, and the previous owner painted them. They aren't high end cabinets by any means, but I was wondering what options I might have to refinish them. Once they are painted, I'm not sure if anything can be done other than repainting them. Any ideas?

Sorry this is off topic. It's slow around here so I figured I'd post it anyway.

IMO, easiest is to repaint. You could take them to someone and have them dipped and stripped but you'd really only be able to do the doors and maybe drawer fronts. There are plenty of products on the market to strip them down but if you're looking to get a "like new finish" not sure you'd ever be able to get it back to real raw wood.

I could be wrong too as I haven't really done much of this, the rule in my house is if it stained wood, it'll never get painted. Really makes my wife mad as she wanted to paint some trim. Instead, I ripped it all down and put new painted trim up.

Good luck
