More Info on the Event:

The 5th annual Johndee.com Snowfest event which benefits Make a Wish is coming up very soon on January 29-30th 2010. We have a lot of great things for this years event, and are hoping for another strong turnout to help grow this event year after year. For the first 4 years of this event we have raised nearly $30,000 for the Make a Wish foundation. For the past three years this money has gone directly to a Michigan Family, from the Upper Peninsula. Last year was a special year for us, not only for the amount of money we raised, but to have an opportunity to have the benefiting family join us for the event.

If you have been thinking about coming, now is the time to get registered for the event. We have great food,a large silent auction, a great raffle, great people, and not to forget the fabulous back country tours. I hope to see you up in the Keweenaw!

Sincerely,

John Stachler

What's the itinerary? I need to know in order to reserve a room. What time on Friday do events begin?

I have been all over both of these pages with a fine-tooth comb; there is no itinerary or even a start time. I don't want to have to pay for a room unnessarily.

This event is 2 days, with back-country rides available both days depending on guides and number of riders. We have always been able to accommodate back-country riding for at least 1 of the days for those interested, and many end up riding for both days off-trail. Those not going off-trail have a pretty fun Poker run that JD puts together, with prizes to be awarded at the banquet dinner. The banquet dinner is a GREAT time, with food, entertainment, silent auction, and raffle....Starts @ 6PM

If you are from out of town and want to attend both days I would suggest getting a hotel for Thurs, Friday, and Sat. We typically start Friday and Saturday morning around 10AM, sometimes a little earlier depending on when we get all setup.

Friday we get people checked in for their shirts, then get the groups organized for back-country riding. Saturday morning is smoother as we have less people checking in, so we get you out in the snow much quicker.

The links John Dee has posted will give you more detail.

Thanks and hope to see you there!

John

Thanks for the info! One more question; can one participate in the poker run and a back country ride on Saturday?

If you want to do the backcountry riding you will need to set aside either Friday or Saturday just for that. Then whichever day is remaining you can do the poker run. The poker run is available up until the time of the banquet, so you can do it either Friday or Saturday....or even both days if your not going off-trail.

If you are just coming up for Saturday you will need to chose between one or the other, but if you only want to do the back country for 1/2 day Im sure your guide can get you setup back on the trails so you can try to do some of the poker run. I just think from a time standpoint you would be better choosing one or the other.

Hope that helps!
