Removing safety stickers

Is there some crazy rule on the removal of all the safety stickers off your sled. They look so tacky. I remove mine first thing. I sure don't need some DNR, sheriff, or other, giving me a ticket for it. It probably falls under the "Do not remove" tag law on my pillow.

LOL,....thats funny but points to how intimidated we are getting with all the "Bad rules/law" out there.....
as far as I know it is still your private property and you can do whatever you want to it....but YOUR question points to a much bigger question , don't it?????

Like WHY would you feel like it might be ILLEGAL in the 1st place....guess thats why I'm NOT a "rules are rules" kind of guy....

Just DON'T do what I did and over heat the sticker with a heat gun and blister the paint!!!!!
(kinda wished there was a law against stupid at that point! LOL)

I ripped the tag off my mattress once,...
and couldn't sleep for a week.

:)

Those stickers are there just like the "This Coffee May Be Very Hot" is stamped
on your McDonalds coffee. So the industry covers their butts in case you have
a brain fart.
Could you imagine though,....
If They could bust ya for that?,... How about getting a ticket,... because the graphics
on your sled were different from the ones put on at the factory.
I gotta lose weight,..... or they'll be charging me (2) trail permits for a "wide load"
:)

on the Rev XP, I put the knee pads on and when you buy those they actually give you another set of safety stickers since the knee pads cover up the old ones. needless to say, the new ones never went on. I removed the ones in the back stating dont ride to close b/c objects/debris become airborne. There are a lot of things that go airborne with the 800R.

If a dealer gets the sled back on a trade in they must put the stickers back on before re-selling.

...So therefore....removing them will cause the dealer to spend MONEY to replace them...and therefore, the price he will give you will be less than had you left the stickers there and ignored them.

That little fetish will cost you, then won't it???

I believe they call this rebelling against authority. Hey...maybe they should call this a stickerless oedipus complex??

finally someone asked this question. i try to take them off, it takes about a week of drenching with goo gone and wd-40 to get the stickers off but i always wondered if you could get ticketed. i don't plan on selling it to a dealer so i'm good.

The prisons are filled with people who removed thase tags from life preservers, mattresses and stickers from snowmobiles. Don't do it.

Actually rubbing alcohol helps too, especially to get rid of the adhesive remnants and glue gone mess. And you do have to soak these labels a bit to get them off.

Indy? Are you taking off all those stickers we sent you? Use your moms Blow dryer to loosen them up. I wrecked my headlight bezel with goo gone. The Canadian trail sticker (4"x6") melted off the windshield, slid down to the headlight and became stuck there. (what a mess) I did the toothpaste trick to get it back to a barely acceptable level.

Not my dealer. We have the "don't ask don't tell" policy going on that one. I trade them in and he sends them off to auction. Now maybe someone down the line puts them back on, but I doubt it.

WOW! A week? no sir heat with heatgun (hairdyer) and peal away. A PLASTIC razor blade works wonders. Then cleanup with a LITTLE goo-gone, or wd-40. Took about 30 min to do my ZR, all the warning decals and the "performance" stickers the previuos owner had applied.
The factory stickers were a breeze, "performance" stickers left alot of residue. Trick is to get them warm enought for the adhesive to release but not soo hot that the decal tears. I spent my fair share of time with the local DNR this season, they never said anything about it.

no but i put most of them on my 500 which i sold. still kept the windy so i got most of my stickers there. but my biggest loss would have to be the hmk stickers you sent me :(

Now let me get this straight...you left the clothes in the dryer, dishes in the sink, dog unwalked, garage floor unswept, but you took 30 minutes to peel off some stickers....???

Man you are one sick puppy! Here, go over there and sit down and just think about this for a moment.....do yah understand why your wife wants to brain you with a ballbat, and your kids won't talk to you anymore???

You need help man....society is closing in on you and you're cracking wide open. Seek help immediately before your cheese slides completely off your cracker.

I didn't put them back on my knee pads either, but every time I see people with them on their knee pads I feel a little guilty, oh well I'll get over it.

The feeling guilty part was sarcasm.

Heat gun & paint thinner work great, Just test an area first to make sure the thinner won't discolor the plastic.

Be careful!~

My brother gets out next month. He did 18 months in stillwater prison for removing the warning decals from his 05 firecat. (gets out 6 months early for good behavior) Once the police got word, it was just a matter of time before they caught up to him. He tried to run for a while, but life on the lam just proved to be to hard on him and his family.

The only way we knew he was still alive while on the run was from the occasional posts on john dee and a facebook status update every once in a while. When the police finally did catch up with him he was holed up in a small cabin near Claumet, they found him naked in the fetal position clutching a hair dryer, some razor blades and a bottle of Goo Gone. He was just a shell of a man by then.

It seems prison life has changed him though, I think he is mostly reformed but we still have to keep on the lookout for any signs of a relapse. He has been court ordred to stay away from all adhesive removers for a year. We are just hoping he will be able to make the transition back to a normal life and be a contributing member of society again someday.
