Replacing carb boots

I know this is an easy and simple thing to do BUT, would it hurt anything to put a very thin layer of high temp or non-solulible grease inside the boot to keep the rubber from drying out? Also could this help the rubber in maintaining a 'sure' seal between the rubber and carb/airbox?
Thanks in advance...

I wouldn't do anything on the inside but rather the outside. Could spray some wd-40 on them, I always do, never had a problem, never a torn carb boot on any of my/our sleds and have quite the miles on some of ours.

I had one once that was showing cracks on the outside but only surface cracks. Was on the night before a big trip so i coated it with a thin layer of silicone. Still that way today and probably put 1000 or better miles on that back up sled over the years.

Thanks guys for your input. I know its really not a big deal but I'm replacing 10 yr old boots that are starting to show some age and didn't know if the grease was a 'whacked out' idea or what.
Thanks again....
