Boring but u still clicked on it? Right....just like the kid with his nose pressed against the glass to see what his buds are doin outside. LOL!

Better riding today with most staying right and no slow pokes that I saw. I think the serious riders are still here and the amateurs had enough.

nope,...title sounded like the OP wanted some input on how to train newbies so my first look see was when I posted...page 2....LOL...very entertaining these circular debates are.

I list 30 posts per page.

We all started somewhere. Some caused me frustration and I may have caused some along the way as well riding with "the boys"

Did you ever think to stop and give them the right of way in the very tight hairpin corner, instead of ramming your way thru the group of riders that was in the corner before you got there. If we all give a little instead of riding like you are about to win the I 500 it would a be a lot safer for all, even the riders that have just started to enjoy what we have loved for years. Calling new riders Idiots won't help and is uncalled for.

Negative...because this idiot was the 1st or 2nd sled in the group and we met at exactly the middle of a hair pin turn with her left of center in the trail. (her left) There was no possible way to get by on the right.
I honestly can't recall if there was a sled in front of her or not, probably because I was so shook up by the incident, I only remember the one I almost hit. But it seems to me nobody riding this stupidly could have been leading a group.
And I WAS going relatively slowly which is why there was no accident and I was able to pass her to my left, and get OFF THE TRAIL to allow the rest of the group the right away.
I don't think there is anybody riding today that slows down to 5-10 MPH for every single corner during a day.

On narrow trails with blind corners during the daytime.......I do. ALWAYS expect a sled coming at you around a corner......always. This has served me well for 30 years and 70K miles mainly running point.

So on every single corner you slow to 5 to 10 MPH? Somebody's not being honest here, and it isn't me.
On some turns you don't know the degree of obstructed view until you get into it.
And on other turns you can clearly see the entire scope of the oncoming because of clearing, or gradual nature of the turn, where it would be ridiculous to slow to practically a stop.
I know of a turn on trail 7N in Vilas that always gets washed out and iced over - every year no matter what. It's somewhat blind but it's not narrow.
Traffic moving south has no problem holding right because of banking, but going north you ALWAYS slide center, or left if you carry any speed. In that case, the only way I know to hold that northbound corner is to practically stop.
This is a totally gray area.
Regardless of the type of turn, whether you're going 5 MPH or 20, nobody should be anywhere but as far right as possible. In a perfect world.

Fusion: What are going to do??? If a rider can only do 5-10 mph in a corner & be safe then so be it. If a rider is that slow in every corner please move over & let riders on a faster pace pass you so we can all have a good time.:) The trail blocking is what jams things up. On the bright side I rode the Kimball today in -7F degress RT to 3 Lakes back to Phelps gassed at the Wayside had fresh groom all the way never saw another sled in 80 miles of riding just me & the groomer..lol

Leaving with my wife tomorrow morning for Vilas for 2 days of riding without any problems except for keeping warm. Then Friday & Saturday we are the tour guides for 4 newbies. So if you see a slow moving group lead by guy on a red Vector, have faith. I will pull over at a straightaway or a stop and let you pass.

Monday had the trails to myself 80 mile RT to 3 lakes miles only saw a 3 lakes groomer. Colder than a witches' toe high was -7 for high but trails were in great shape setting up very well could not even tell I rode on new groom. Perfect for week for newbies if they are prepared for cold.

Buddy and I headed to ER for the weekend. Kimball Creek is my absolute favorite. Can ride that back and forth all weekend and smile the whole time. How are trails toward Sugar Camp? Sayner?

Keeping them warm is a whole new ballgame. Some of them are downhill skiers so I hope they will know how to dress. Going to have a drivers meeting b/4 we head out to explain the trail courtesy and safety. Biggest problem I've had in the past is getting the group all dressed and ready to leave a watering hole at the same time so half the group are not standing outside waiting.

You retired guys that can ride and have trails all to yourself....suck! (sarcasm - kidding)
Someday soon I will join you, and I'll be out here describing how I rode perfect trails and didn't see a sled all day.
Now I get to stare out the window of this office, look at the snow pile on the bush outside, and be envious of those that can ride whenever they want to.
That 11 days in northern WI were some of the fastest of my life.

On a BLIND corner if I'm on point I'm crawling. 5 MPH? 20 MPH? I don't know....I'm not watching my speedo....all I know is that I'm going effing slow. YES I'm being truthful in what I do when going around a blind corner while riding during the day. SLOW! I'm in no hurry.

Someday fusion....:) you would luv our loops with your Rush we are riding to Amasa, MI Wednesday very tight & twisty as protected as possible on subzero day ....I'll count the sleds but think less than 6 all day...nobody yesterday in extreme NW Forest. I was glad to see the groomer knew someone would be coming just in case. Very surprised no one on 10 in ER at Wayside for gas but it was frigging cold!!!!!

Banjo you picked the perfect week for newbies....most leave after NYD weekend so we go from nutso to no one.....HUGE contrast in traffic & trail conditions..... I always ride this week trails are healed & being prepped for Vintage Derby weekend. Stay warm it will be cold but trails are in super condition!!! :D

Thanks WD, The best part of the trip will be Tomorrow and Thursday with just the wife and I. She is a seasoned rider and can do pretty well keeping up. Won't be doing any marathon miles and will probably be in the twisty's also to stay warm. And keep it under 100 miles.
