Any suggestions for good riding this weekend from Minocqua area? I realize conditions will not be great, but this is the weekend of the trip so we will have to make do with what we have. Looking for ride suggestions from Lake Minocqua. Thanks!

From what clubs are posting, you will want to try to find routes that stay out in the woods and avoid plowed roads and the old rail road grades. Going into town will be pretty ugly to if they don't get more snow. Sorry I cant give trail numbers and what not just trying to give you some advise. Also hear lakes are really slushy and once they freeze will be rough until snow fills all the voids in. If you have facebook Minoqua has 2 club pages that post pictures and updates you can look at.

When you threw the word "good" in there, you eliminate most everything. May be some decent stuff in the woods, but getting to it is the problem. The Northwood's, as far north as the Keweenaw (Houghton/Hancock) are dealing with bad conditions. We were suppose to leave today for Hurley, but cancelled. Cold and snow are needed in a bad way. Had a buddy up in Houghton doing some recon for us yesterday. Thought we would head up that way if decent, but he said it isn't good there either. If it's bad up that way, you can bet it's bad most everywhere as they usually always have decent snow. They do have snow, but grooming has stopped until more snow and cold return. Just too warm to make any progress. Best of luck!

ER did groom the grade thru town last night. Saw the results at the Holiday station this morning. It was smooth but every track cleat from the groomer left it's impression. Trail is like a highway ripple strip. I assume in the woods will be about the same. Essentially no new snow today. Lakes are all rutted with slush.

When clubs in Mercer, Hurley, Boulder Junction, etc. are asking for people to stay off the trails, you know its bad. Nobody has really been grooming anywhere in WI or even in the UP for the last 5 or 6 days. Some may start tonight. Poor to fair conditions are the best I've heard....canceled our club ride in Mercer this weekend.

I'm in Central Upper Michigan and it's currently raining and 36 degrees at almost 7pm. Most snow is gone and swamps are full of water again, trails are unrideable and will be for quite a while. Look at cams in Marquette, and St. Ignace, areas where there usually is good sledding this time of year and they have basically 0 snow. So much for the cold snowy winter most thought we'd have.
