because all your input really matters to me i will ask this. i have a new jeep in need of it's first oil change and was thinking because the scheduled maintenance between oil changes is 8,000 miles would or do any of you use royal purple 5w20? it's a bit pricey but i figure at 8,000 miles i will only be changing oil less than 10 times before trading in. some would say screw the next owner but i have been that next owner too many times.lol

I've got two customers at my shop that swear by it. One has a 02 s-10 with 250,000 miles or more on it and he attributes the long life with using royal purple. I prefer amsoil synthetics, that purple oil always seems wrong to me. Your gonna get a different opinion from everyone you talk too so if you like it and feel good about royal purple go for it.

OK, I'll bite - since I haven't had to change my own oil for YEARS (thanks, bigdaddy) and all I could afford was whatever was on sale when I did - what makes royal purple so much better than any other brand? I've had my Jeep since '93 and it's never seen royal purple and I've never had any issues... Are you trying to start and amsoil vs sea and snow with CAR oil?! :)

When was the last time you seen or heard of a oil related failure? Any brand? It just doesnt happen like it used to. IMO Use whatever is on sale especially if its gone in 80k. Same goes for 2-stroke oil also IMO.

I use motocraft 5w-20 a favorite on f-150 world web site. You can find it at Wallmart for around $12.00 gallon jug. I change mine every 5,000 miles.

I have a BMW and they schedule oil changes every 12,000 miles becasue they use a special BMW blend of synthetic oil, Which I am sure is the same as Mobil 1 or Purple oil. So any good synthetic oil would do just fine. I also have a new Jeep and when it is ready for an oil change it will get synthetic oil. MY previous vehicle was also a jeep that I ran with synthetic oil all its life with me and never had a problem , it had over 180,000 miles on it when I traded it in. Engine was solid. Body started to rust away. Thanks Wisconsin and road salt.
