Rush Owners (questions??)

Attak man

I would like to ask Rush owners what their likes/dislikes are of these machines.

I am currently doing some shopping...looking at different sleds...I have owned all 4 brands over the past 30 years, and really am not brand loyal...though...maybe a bit partial to yamaha. I love my attak GT..it's been a great machine...but..as I get older I can't help but think a lighter, less powerful machine might suit me better.

I found a pair of rushes...a 2011, and a 2012 (both LX models)..really good price, low miles. My questions are:

What is the fuel/oil economy
how is the handling (hunting-darting??)
Is the short tracker capabile of running some ditches, or loose snow??
Any problems??

Like I said I really like my attak...but am very attracted to a lighter, less powerful machine (my attak with the ulmer clutching is a beast..VERY FAST)...I really won't miss the power going from a 1000 4 stroke to a 600 two stroke...as the attak is almost too much for me. So that is not an issue....I'm not interested in Cat or Ski-doo at this point..nothing wrong with them..personally the etec's scare me (seen too many on the end of a tow rope the last 3 years), and the cat 1100 4 stroke does not impress me (if I wanted a 4 stroke I'd stay with yamaha)...Don't take offense doo or cat guys..just sayin....i never thought I'd even look at Polaris again...but...I really like the looks of the rush...especially the retro one I saw today...very sharp sled... please don't turn this into a brand bashing post..I just want to hear from Rush owners.

The Rush is a great sled and I would lean towards the 2012 as the front end was updated and the handling is much better. As for playing in the ditches? It will be more capable as a short track in the ditch or deep snow than your Attack is. The weight really does make a difference here and the Yamaha approach angles are pretty steep. As for mileage, maybe in the rage of 13. Some days more some days less. The key to owning and liking a Rush is understanding how to set up a progressive rate suspension! They ride awesome!

good info Greg, Mark (mspease) has one and loves it. I also rode it and was very impressed. He'll see this thread at some point and am sure he will post on it.

I have a 2011 LX and love it. Darting I added an outside 4" carbite to each ski, (made a huge difference). Like cooksend said I've gotten as much as 15mpg and I've gotten 11, all depends on how you ride it. The ride to me is awesome, when you can turn the back spring one turn and feel the difference for rough trails....perfect. I have 2000 miles on mine and have had no issues.

You'll be happy!

I was only able to put 1,031 miles on my sled last year due to the poor snow year. I have a 2012 Adventure. Let me address your questions first.

- I got 13-15 mpg and oil usage is so low rp7x wants me to turn up the oil pump.
- Handling is great and very adjustable. The sled responds to your body movements like no sled you
have ever ridden. Darting was a non-issue for me, and this was the first non-dual carbide ski I've
had in years, so I was a little worried about it. The back end was very stable for me, especially
with the 136"x1.356" track.
- I don't have a short track, so can't say for sure, but should be no problem. The switchy would be
better for you if you spend some time off trail, but a 121" will handle better on trails, especially in
the twisties, so it depends on your riding style. Get a 1.25" or 1.356" lug track, no less!

I would agree on leaning towards the 2012 model for the reasons cooksend stated and also because year 3 of a new sled is usually when they have most things dialed in. Proof of that is the few changes on the 2013's.

As for the 600 motor, it's a great powerplant! It's been proven over the years to be very reliable and one of the most powerful in it's class. Prior to this sled, I had nothing but 800's and an FST and the 600 has plenty of power for me. I'm 50 now, and being first across the lake is not important to me anymore. I still don't hold many people up on a trail, but the 600 has all I need. I have yet to blow a belt on any of the 600's I have owned as the wife's sled. GREAT MOTOR!

I love the retro look also, brings me back to my teenage days of riding and spending my fall days at our local Polaris dealer, driving him nuts I'm sure. Go for the 2012 in retro if one's available.

I was holding my breath every second Lenny was on my new machine! ;) Just kidding Lenny! I would trust him with anything, great guy! Good luck on your decision and let us know what you decide. If you decide on a sled let us know so we can watch for you also.

i cant even begin to say how many of them i own...but will say, if youre not sure just get Chronicles and decide wich era you like most and go from there

Mine is a 2010, had it for one year. Fun sled, lightweight. Don't know the gas mileage by number, but exactly the same fill up as my cat Z1 1200 4 stroke. Prefer the big Cat for a week of riding in MI, prefer the Rush for Door Cty. Rush handling not all that good so changed to Bergstrom Triple Points and reset front end...should fix it.
Found broken left side rail yesterday, kinda disappointing after only 1000 miles. Sled runs good, lots of fun, glad I bought it.

I agree with what has been said already. I own a 2011 600 Pro/R and when my wife rode it she wanted out of her 2010 IQ and I got her a 2012 Pro/R. I would recommend the 1.25 track lug. The 2012 & 2013’s have better front end geometry for flatter cornering than my 2011. I have a ski lift yet but hopefully with more consistent snow this year I can dial in better with more miles. Get a Skinz storage bag for the back.
The 600 Liberty motor/belt combo has been very good to us from the edge chassis thru rush chassis.

I have a 2011 LX that my wife now drives and I am on a 2012 Adventure. Both are great sleds, no problems so far. My wife prefers my Adventure so the LX may go on the blocks next spring. I don't think I have ever bottomed out the back end on either sled. The Pro ride is really dialed in on these sleds. Some of my friends say the back end looks funny, but I tell them that I am always leading and don't have to look at it. My only complaint is the ice build up on the sides of the rear swing arm. I keep a rubber mallet in the trailer to knock it off in the morning. The 2012 spindles are an extrusion instead of a casting and look and perform better than the 2011. Good luck in your decision and welcome to the Rush club.
