ibendwire,

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, but I was in the UP for a week. I do think the windshield will make a difference, but it will need to be both taller, to protect your upper chest and head area, and wider to protect your hands.

Whitedust,

I agree with you on the 800, but I hear mostly good things about that 600 engine.

Pol has had great 600s for many years. I would not be scared of that engine. The 800's are a different matter. Even when they are supposedly 'right' they drink a lot of fuel and are slow. Yes, they might beat an 800r from time to time but the 800r is also slow. Neither one in stock form will go 95 GPS in normal riding conditions. They are geared that way on purpose. They are not lake racers.

Grub I agree with you on gearing on new 2s & 4s 150 +HP engines. Oems will not release a stock real 120 MPH 150 sled & gear down to save lives. Thus the death of the doo Mach no or little market for it when you have many 150s in line up. You just don't need more than 150HP for the trail. Lake racing to me is 4s add turbos & SC & put out 260HP if you like. I think the HP race is ebbing & will continue to slow more after 2011 release. 2011 still a few more ponies up but not a lot then level off for 2012.

Arctic has their 170 HP hypersled but I think they have only sold about 9 of them. Too much money, they still blow up and they are getting harder to insure. If you want to talk about top end it really hasn't changed that much since about 1983. I had a '83 Pol 600 triple back then that would indicate way over 100. I'm sure the speedos sucked as much then as they do now so realistically it was maybe doing 95 max. Very close to what we have now. The big improvements since then have come in suspensions and reliability - not top end.

I think some stock 4s turbos to come yet but not much use on trail for 170-200+ ponies. The OEM gearing pulls them down so what is the point? Only thing I can see is straight line racing for all that hp. 150 4s plenty for me on trail & not peaky...nice broad powerband. 150 2s nice too but can't take the beating on the high end like 4s. 2s straight line racer very vertical market & potenial to blow on cold day way too risky for the $$$.

Aftermarket

You shouldn't say this in public. People might think your homosexual!!!!!! lol... I think a 420 lbs. 200 hp 2-stroke would be awesome!!!!

Aftermarket SC or Turbo will get you there now on 4s. If it is important to ya. Use on the trail & you will be dead gay basher. :>) 200 hp injected 2-stroke stock trail sled from OEM never going to see that no market at all for R &D cost. As said before OEM will gear it down never sell it to public as true 120 mph sled anyway. Mountain only market driver for 200hp 420 lbs sled that is all about high RPMs. No market for trail sled. If it was possible the limited trail sled quantities would price you $15-16K per sled maybe more. Take a poll if you think there is a market for 200 hp injected 2-stroke stock trail sled. There is a reason 600s 2s or 120 hp 4s are best sellers.
