I can't help you on that, but I recently got a Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MHS291L for our place up north. The problem was that I was getting good reception on the voice side, but not the data side. We were using our phone as the hotspot for our PC. The phone would naturally try to connect to 4G LTE out of Gaylord. Problem was we are about 18 miles from there and in what probably was a extended 4G range. Anyways it was so slow sending and receiving, seems about the same as dial up. In the meantime there is a 3G tower about 3 miles away. If and when the phone switched over to 3G it was fast and ran great. After doing some research and talking to a person at the Verizon store in Gaylord we got one. I took ti back to our place and put in on a window ledge facing Gaylord. Turned it on and connected right to 4G LTE. Our PC has ran the best it's ran since using this. One thing I do like about this one model is that you can connect an external antenna to it if needed. Also you can use it in the vehicle, but I guess you can to that with others. Oh, this one also has a bigger battery to last longer. The bad part is it's an additional $20 per month on our bill.

I use at&t's version... http://www.att.com/standalone/3gmicrocell/?fbid=LNj4VMj8Tq-

wouldn't be able to use a cell in the house without it. I think it works best if you do not have any coverage. If you have just a weak signal, the two "towers" compete and you will drop calls. If you have some coverage, I would use http://www.zboost.com/solutions-products/home-office/zb545.html I have an extra one that you are welcome to try. This one only works if you have coverage outside the house, not inside.

Verizon has a very weak outside signal comes & goes nothing inside so thought I would use network extender use internet for cell phone then upgrade to Exede from Wild Blue for faster broadband. Also just found out Att might have signal at my house but covergae looks light in UP....not that Verizon is great up there but cell phone is my life line on trails.

I looked into Exede before I got the jetpack. After looking at the reviews, I decided against it. There seems to be more negative than positive.

Exede takes me up at least 12X my current internet speed from Wild Blue same monthly fee no installation charges easy change over. Exede replaces Wild Blue but they don't advertize, same owership, probably WB to Exede is not incremental biz for them. I wonder what happends to WB now?

Att has gotten a lot better in the UP. I have att and have service in most areas they have added a lot of towers in the last few years also went 4g. My camp is in watersmeet, also good service in Kenton, Bruce's , gogebic , not great but service in mass and rockland. Have friend in republic and they have service that way also so att getting better.

Knew that Exede and Wild Blue under the same ownership. I really do hope that they improve as I eventually want to hook up a webcam at our place. Not only that I'd like to have it so that I can adjust the thermostat higher from the PC or phone when we get closer to the place. I'm going off these reviews http://www.consumeraffairs.com/internet/wild_blue.html and others. Granted they are from all over but they can't be all wrong. If you do get it or have it keep us inform in the future, as I'm sure their are a lot of others interested

Interesting & I wonder if these people blowing out their data limits have their file sharing turned on? I had the same problem years ago when I 1st signed with WB blew out the data in a day or 2 & I was lke ***?...How did that happen? Once I got limewire turned off never had a problem again with data limits. Problem is you are somewhat on your own to troubleshoot WB is not going to clean up your computer but then again you will only be on WB or Exede because there is nothing else. I hope the change over is not too painful & will know soon.

I also use the Zboost device . Have been for 5 years now. Antenna is in attic and booster is on top of kitchen cabinets with internal repeater antenna. I use ATT and get zero signal without the booster. It covers my entire house and yard. Verizon works every where around my house but not at my house - go figure.

I am not a big fan of the satellite internet. The latency drives me up a wall. Way to slow for me. I am guessing you don't do any online gaming :)
Have you looked into SonicNet? It is still wireless, but at least you are not shooting the signal to outer space.

SonicNet is trying to put up tower on Kentuck Lake but still won't reach my house & would need to bounce back to me across the lake from another willing customer on west shore. Exede is way faster than SonicNet just don't know about their latency yet & no we don't play games online so not a concern. SonicNet does not have data limits but their speed 1mbps compared to Exede 12mbps just seems a like a horsecart & not sure why people would want SonicNet at such slow speeds seems like old tech now. Exede is the latest satellite internet tech & suppose to be much better in bad weather...the WB was crap in tstorms but pretty good otherwisei n snow & rain.

So Far So Good!

So far the Exede is whipping around the net pretty good....2 hours is not much time but notice the speed is much faster than the old Wild Blue. Rainey day installation & Exede hooked right up doing all they said it would do....more time will tell. I guess they either blow up the old WB satillite or let it drift off into space when time. Satillites have limited fuel so they know the lifetime. I'll give Excede a week then on to the Verizon Samsung Network Extender for cell phone useage.
