We rode from Tomahawk to the north yesterday...just wanted to give you an update.

Tomahawk area trails were a 9 out of 10...beautiful...of course that was early morning until about 11am...so conditions may have changed..the lake tomahawk, St germain sayner area got very snirty and icy in the corners by afternoon...with very heavy traffic..lots of rentals out...had more than a couple riding on the wrong side of the trail...we tried to go around st germain as we knew it would be bad with the radar runs going on...but sayner star lake was just as busy, and had less snow...the snow was very sugary there...talked to a local up there...and he said they didn't get much for snow last week..it went south...made sense as the trails seemed thinner until we got just south of lando...definitely more snow there..and thus bumpier..one thing I wanted to note...we had a heck of a time with our maps matching where trails went in the star lake area...even the Polaris ride command wasn't right...we got turned around several times...so becareful in that area....and watch the signs closely...it was no biggie to us..as we just ride...but somebody new to the area could get into real trouble as cold as it was yesterday...
Well...I'm off for a ride in the yoop..ttyl

What type of riding is it if we were to trailer up and drop say around merrill? What way would you head for more woodsy riding compared to just fields? Never been in that area. Thanks for any info.

People drop right at Highway 8 and 51. On the south west corner there is a parking lot. Or go to Billy Bob's.

Surprised theres any snow left in st germain, sayner, etc.....far and away the busiest weekend ive ever seen up here in 25 years...there were snowmobiles everywhere...

nhra1000 I will second that, trails were shot after the zoo that took place on the lake on Saturday. We rode back and pretty much completed our carbides all ice and washed out. They will need at least 6-8" of snow to get them decent again I would imagine.

92 Coupe,, I took a ride several years ago near the Timms Hill area and dropped at a service station near 8 and 13 in Prentice. Sorry I don't remember the name, aren't many around there. It was E. of 13 S. of 8. I got really lucky, on an educated whim, I went up on a Sunday later in the season just after a significant snowfall.
Went to Timms Hill, (awesome), trails were great, very "woodsy", more hardwoods than pine, rode over 100miles, did not see one sled,, kid you not. Amazing,, like I said, I got real lucky.

Point is,, St G. is probably in recovery mode now,, other areas with good snow won't be beat up like St. G. area. Ck area clubs, businesses,, etc,
Best of luck !

ok thanks. Any recommendations where to drop at. I'd consider driving up to tomahawk area also.

A good place to unload is just north side of Tomahawk. Hwy 8 west 2 miles and there is a wayside on the left (by county Hwy L). There is the Bearskin (railroad grade) trail just to the west.
