Seasonal Outlook is out

When there is a prediction for rideable snow in MN and Northern WI, it gives a guy a little more incentive to look forward to winter again. Besides, we have cut enough wood this fall for 8 to 10 winters. All I can say is...BRING ON THE WHITE STUFF!!! THE MORE, THE BETTER!!!

The source I look at has it at 47.2 and average for this date is 51.2.

Lake MI is at 55.8 vs. the average of 57.2.

These are lake wide averages.

I just read some blurb that says 2010 has been one of the warmest years ever recorded here in the continental U.S. One would think that the big lakes would be warmer if this were true. Whatever. John's forecast looks great. I am also in the camp that puts more faith in John Dees forecasts than any of our local buffoon's pontifications.

Grub-

They were warmer and Superior was at record levels for warmth as we closed out August and entered into Sept. But a big wind storm on Sept 3rd cooled it off. Keep in mind we are not talking about all of the lake being warmed, just the top 10 feet or so, then you hit the thermocline and temps are pretty much constant all year long. Put 25 foot waves on the lake and that mixes the cold water below the thermocline with the warm water above it. That is why the big lake is below average at the moment.
