sorry,I didnt read all responses,but I do always carry a gps.if cell works,you can give lat and long. if for some reason u leave that spot,or someone behind(god forebid),then u at least can give them that spot

Muss, too bad your riding partner made the decision who goes and who dosent, now it looks like you need to buy a GPS, trusty old Craig not with you, darn!
 
I agree with whitedust - head straight at the deer, because it is better than the alternative, which usually means swerving into trees. A friend of a friend was killed Saturday night in Cheboygan County http://www.petoskeynews.com/gaylord/news/ght-snowfatal-1182012,0,3903466.story. Nobody knows what happened for sure because she was the last sled in her group, but there were deer tracks at the scene so they think she swerved into the trees to avoid the deer.

Anyway, so glad to hear that your husband is okay. It always helps to hear these stories so you can keep focused and think of your emergency planning.
